Salma Sharmin has been making multidimensional contributions through social service, environmental conservation, human rights advocacy, and literary activities. She is widely recognized as an entrepreneur, poet, writer, and social activist. For many years, she has been working for the welfare of people from different walks of life and playing a significant role in promoting humanitarian values in society.
In her professional career, Salma Sharmin worked successfully for three consecutive years in a multinational company. Alongside her professional responsibilities, she has remained actively involved in various environmental and human rights initiatives. As a member of the organization Sobuj Bangladesh (Green Bangladesh), she regularly participates in social and environment-friendly programs aimed at protecting nature and raising public awareness.
Her passion for social service began during her college years. At that time, she became involved with the Rotaract movement and actively participated in numerous humanitarian and social development activities. Her contributions to education, awareness-building, volunteerism, and community welfare have been widely appreciated.
Salma Sharmin founded the humanitarian organization Yusuf Ali Khan Humanity Foundation, which works for the welfare of underprivileged and disadvantaged people in society. Through this organization, various programs are conducted to help ensure basic human rights such as food, clothing, education, healthcare, and shelter. Her initiative in serving humanity has played a positive role in bringing social change.
She has also demonstrated excellence in her academic life. She completed her Secondary School Certificate (SSC) from Adarsha Girls’ High School in Pabna and her Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) from Government Edward College. Later, she earned both her Bachelor of Social Science (BSS) and Master of Social Science (MSS) degrees in Sociology from the same institution. In addition, she completed a Diploma in Personnel Management from the Bangladesh Institute of Management (BIM).
Salma Sharmin is equally active in the literary arena. Through poetry, short stories, and essays, she highlights issues related to society, humanity, and the environment. Her writings reflect humanitarian values, social responsibility, and a call for positive change. In 2020, one of her short stories was included in the anthology Amra 93, which was published by Shabdashilpa Prakashani during the Amar Ekushey Book Fair.
In recognition of her outstanding contributions to literature and social service, she received the Mother Teresa Award. She has also been honored with the Sher-e-Bangla A. K. Fazlul Huq Award as a poet and recitation artist.
She also serves as a member responsible for entrepreneurship affairs in the National Women’s Literary Council, where her contributions to social development and women’s empowerment have been highly appreciated.
In her personal life, Salma Sharmin is a proud mother. Her only son, Mansib Raiyan, is currently pursuing higher education at a university in Australia.
Salma Sharmin believes that serving humanity is one of life’s greatest achievements.
