Mizanur Rahman Mizan, born in a remote char area of Kochakata Upazila in Kurigram District, is now recognized as a successful entrepreneur, organizer, and social development worker. Overcoming numerous hardships and challenges in life, he has transformed his dreams into reality. His journey has become a source of inspiration for many young people.
His childhood was marked by river erosion, poverty, and limited opportunities. However, these adversities could not suppress his ambitions. After completing his education, instead of pursuing a conventional job, he chose to follow his dream of becoming an entrepreneur. Through hard work, honesty, and self-confidence, he established Turya Sweaters, a garment manufacturing company in Dhaka. Today, the company contributes to the national economy while creating employment opportunities for many people.
Alongside his business success, Mizanur Rahman Mizan has dedicated himself to humanitarian and social welfare activities. Through the Rashid Mondol Foundation, which he founded, he has been working for years to improve the living standards of underprivileged communities and ensure their basic rights in Kurigram and other parts of Bangladesh.
The foundation’s activities include education, healthcare, medical assistance, prevention of child marriage, environmental conservation, and climate awareness initiatives. In particular, it works tirelessly to uplift marginalized communities living in remote char areas.
The Rashid Mondol Foundation has also played a commendable role in responding to humanitarian crises. During the devastating floods in Sylhet in 2022, the organization stood beside affected families. Likewise, in 2024, it carried out relief and humanitarian assistance programs in the flood-affected districts of Cumilla, Feni, and Noakhali. In addition to distributing relief supplies, the foundation organized medical camps and provided free healthcare services to those in need.
Its humanitarian efforts have extended beyond Bangladesh. The Rashid Mondol Foundation has also provided assistance to the people of Gaza, Palestine, who have suffered from conflict and aggression. These initiatives have earned appreciation at both national and international levels.
Furthermore, the foundation undertakes various welfare projects, including constructing homes for disadvantaged families, distributing wheelchairs to persons with disabilities, providing goats under self-reliance programs, and supporting students whose education is at risk due to financial hardship.
Mizanur Rahman Mizan believes that social development is not solely the responsibility of the government; affluent and socially conscious individuals also have a duty to stand beside those in need. According to him, the philosophy of “Humanity for Humanity” can help build a just, compassionate, and inclusive society.
As a successful entrepreneur, he contributes to economic development, and as a social worker, he continues to serve humanity. The struggle, success, and humanitarian efforts of this dream-driven young man from the remote chars of Kurigram will undoubtedly inspire future generations.
