Consumer watchdogs flag ethical concerns over Beverly Hills Chamber President and Global Goodwill Ambassador, urging transparency and accountability.

Glendale, California / Accra, Ghana – The Transparency Matters Coalition (TMC), a nonprofit watchdog group, has raised alarms over the business practices and online conduct of Marie Lemelle, President of the California Black Chamber of Commerce – Beverly Hills and a Global Goodwill Ambassador with international ties.

Lemelle, a longtime figure in the Los Angeles business and public relations community, operates multiple ventures including public relations firms, a talent agency, a production company, and a nonprofit organization. However, watchdogs report patterns of questionable practices across her portfolio, including:

Yelp Reviews and Online Reputation Management
Records and documentation suggest that at least one paying client who raised concerns about services received had their critical Yelp review removed, reportedly after pushback from Lemelle herself. Watchdogs warn that such suppression of consumer feedback may undermine trust and accountability in the marketplace. Further, in August 2025, Lemelle posted on her LinkedIn account alleging that Yelp permits false reviews and cyberbullying. Critics note that this deflection contrasts with Yelp’s longstanding reputation as a trusted platform built on authentic, first-hand consumer experiences.

LinkedIn Alias and Misrepresentation
Investigations also indicate that Lemelle has reportedly posted under the alias “F. Baldiwala” on LinkedIn, where she is alleged to have disparaged a documented case involving a client while promoting her own services. Experts note that such actions are inconsistent with the responsibilities of leaders who publicly represent professional organizations.

Corporate Filings and Jurisdictional Concerns
Public corporate registration records show that Lemelle is connected to Colorado-based filings for several of her entities while simultaneously utilizing a Glendale, California residential address. Local regulations prohibit conducting commercial business from this property, raising questions about jurisdictional compliance and regulatory oversight.

Legal History and Consumer Risk
Public records indicate Lemelle has been associated with more than 18 legal filings in Los Angeles County, often related to contractual disagreements and professional conflicts. In one documented case, a client alleged they paid thousands of dollars to multiple Lemelle-affiliated companies but received minimal deliverables in return, compounding concerns about consumer risk.

Why This Matters Internationally
While based in Glendale, Lemelle holds the title of Global Goodwill Ambassador and promotes herself as a Global Media Director with cross-border initiatives, including ties to Ghana and other regions in Africa. Watchdogs argue that leaders with international influence must be held to the highest standards of transparency and ethics, as their conduct has implications not only locally but across borders where they claim to advocate for goodwill and economic growth.

Call for Oversight and Accountability
The Transparency Matters Coalition is urging local, state, and international stakeholders to pursue greater governance, ethical oversight, and consumer protections for business leaders whose reach spans multiple industries and borders.

“Transparency protects everyone,” said a spokesperson for TMC. “When individuals in positions of authority suppress criticism or operate outside clear regulatory boundaries, both consumers and communities pay the price.”
