Tips to Change the WiFi Name of Xfinity Routers

Naming your wireless network can be exciting if you name it according to your preferences. How to Change the WiFi Name of Xfinity Routers?

To start with, you must connect your router to a computer either wirelessly or using an Ethernet cable. During the process, if you see Xfinity Router blinking orange, restart the device. Once the router and the computer are connected, follow the below-mentioned steps to change the WiFi name of the router:

  1. Open an internet browser on your computer.
  2. Type the IP address, 192.168.1.1 in the browser’s address bar and press Enter.
  3. On the router login page, enter the username and the password and click on “Login”. You can find the details in the user manual that comes along with the router and at the back or bottom of the router.
  4. Once you are logged into the admin console of the router, click on the “Wireless” tab.
  5. Enter the new WiFi name in the blank field and then enter it again to confirm.
  6. Click on the “Apply” button to save the changes.
  7. Log out of the router admin console.

Once you complete the steps mentioned above, you can proceed and search for the available wireless networks in range. You can see the newly set WiFi name in the list of available networks. In case you wonder how to reset Xfinity Router, simply press and hold the reset button of the router for 10 seconds. You will notice that the router’s status lights flicker and it restarts. It means that the reset is complete. You can now use the default router login credentials to get access to the admin console again.
