Hi! My name is Aryan, and I’m 10 years old. Today in class, my teacher asked us what we wanted to be when we grow up. Some kids said astronauts, and one girl said she wanted to be a professional video game player (which sounds awesome). But then my teacher said something that really stuck in my brain. She said, “You don’t have to wait until you’re a grown-up to be a hero. You can start right now with your computer.”
I was a bit confused at first. How can a computer save someone? Then I learned about something called an Online Donation. At first, it sounds like a boring “grown-up” word, but it’s actually like a magic portal. Think about it: you press a few buttons on a screen, and suddenly, miles away in a big city like Mumbai, a huge pot of steaming hot khichdi is being cooked for a family that hasn’t eaten all day. That’s basically a superpower!
I told my Dad about this, and we looked at the Akshaya Chaitanya website together. I saw pictures of their kitchen in Byculla. It is HUGE! It looks like a giant science lab but for food preparation. They have these programs like “Swasthya Ahara.” My Dad explained that when people are really sick in the hospital, their families often travel from very far away and have to sleep on the floor because they don’t have money for a hotel or even a kitchen to cook in. They spend all their money on medicine. When we make an Online Donation, we are making sure those moms and dads don’t have to worry about their tummies growling while they take care of their sick kids.
It makes me feel proud to know that the internet can be used for food donation too with more than just watching cat videos. My teacher says that when we give online, it’s “evergreen,” which means the help keeps growing and growing like a big tree. One meal might help a person feel better today, but it also gives them the energy to keep fighting and get healthy.
Plus, my Dad said there’s a special rule called “80G” where the government says “thank you” to people who give by letting them keep a little extra of their own money. It’s a win-win! But for me, the best part is just knowing that someone, somewhere, is sitting down to a hot meal because of a click we made at our dining table. If everyone did just one small Online Donation, imagine how many lives we could save! It doesn’t take much to be a hero; you just need a kind heart and a little bit of data.
