Snapchat: What do the green dot mean?

When you open the Snapchat app, it’s possible you’ve seen a green dot in the right corner on the top of your screen. Here is everything you need to know about Snapchat’s Green Dot.

Snapchat is one of the easiest ways to communicate with. This app allows you to send and receive instant photos, videos, emojis, and even avatar reactions with Bitmoji.

When using the app, you may’ve seen a green dot on the right corner of your screen. This’s a feature between iOS and Android operating systems, so it isn’t a Snapchat-exclusive matter.

This dot doesn’t mean the same thing as the green dot on your friend’s Bitmoji. That green dot means that they’re currently online, but the other green dot means something else.

What does the green dot on Snapchat mean?

This green dot is a privacy indicator. It lets you know that the app is using the camera and microphone at that moment.

This function is designed to let users know about the use of the camera and microphone through the app.

While it isn’t an exclusive feature of Snapchat, it is important for the team to give the user knowledge that the camera is in use, in order to maintain transparency with all the users.

If you go to the chat section, the green dot may still be there, but it will disappear in a few seconds. This is because the application will detect that you are no longer using the camera.

When you send a voice message, you will see an orange dot. This orange dot indicates that only the microphone is in use.

In case you want to turn off both, the green and the orange dot. Go to your phone settings and disable those permissions.
