In a country where mental health remains a largely under-addressed issue, especially among young people, Saddam Hossain Roni is emerging as one of the youth voices championing change. As a Founder of Talk Hope, a youth-led mental health and suicide prevention initiative in Bangladesh, Roni is working to normalize mental health conversations in schools, colleges, and local communities.

Talk Hope was formally launched in 29 February 2024 as a response to growing mental distress among youth, particularly after the student protest incidents in mid-2024 that exposed the urgent need for emotional and psychological support. With a vision of “Hope through Conversation,” the initiative has already reached over 145000 young individuals, offering peer counseling, mental health literacy, and direct support via trained youth volunteers.

Saddam Hossain Roni, known for his dedication to youth engagement, played a key role in mobilizing the initial team of volunteers and shaping the platform’s outreach strategy. Under his leadership, Talk Hope expanded its digital presence and community-based programs, reaching remote and marginalized areas often overlooked in traditional health discourse.

Currently, Roni and his team are working toward establishing Bangladesh’s first 24/7 mental health support center, offering free, confidential help to those in crisis. The center aims to bridge the existing gap in youth-centric mental health services, combining professional oversight with grassroots accessibility.

Roni’s journey exemplifies how youth leadership can drive sustainable social impact, particularly in sensitive and underserved sectors like mental health. His efforts continue to inspire a growing movement of young people ready to speak up, listen, and stand beside those silently struggling.
