49th Annual NCNW New York State Bethune Height Recognition Program Honors Letitia “Tish” James
The National Council of Negro Women, Inc. (NCNW) New York State Sections hosted the 49th annual Bethune-Height Recognition Program (BHRP) on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Leonard’s Palazzo in Great Neck, New York. The event honored Letitia “Tish” James, the 67th Attorney General for the State of New York, as one of the 2023 BHRP honorees.
The theme of this year’s event was “Looking Back, Moving Forward, Our Legacy: Empowering Future Generations.” The program featured keynote speakers, awards presentations, and a luncheon.
James was presented with the BHRP award by Dr. A. Lois Keith, National Chair, NCNW, and Rev. Dr. Shavon Arline-Bradley, President & CEO of NCNW,Johnnie M. Walker & Dawna M. Fields (National BHRP Co-Chairs) along with Carol Moore (NYS BHRP Chair). The NCNW New York State BHRP Chair Carol Moore. Moore said, “Letitia James is a trailblazer who is breaking down barriers for women and girls. She is an inspiration to us all.”
The BHRP is a national recognition program that honors and supports community members while at the same time supporting the NCNW. The NCNW is a non-profit organization that works to improve the lives of African American women and girls.
The BHRP is one of the NCNW’s signature events. The event is held each year in a different state.
The BHRP was a great success. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the achievements of African American women from the many NCNW, Inc. sections within New York State and to learn more about the work of the NCNW.
The NCNW looks forward to continuing to host the BHRP in the years to come. The BHRP is a great way to celebrate the achievements of African American women and to support the NCNW’s work.
