Youth leader and social activist Kanan Faysal is leading a new wave of mental health support and awareness across Bangladesh through his youth-led initiative Talk Hope — having launched the country’s first-ever free psychological support helpline available 24/7.

Available at 09638881888, the Talk Hope Helpline provides free, round-the-clock emotional assistance to anyone struggling with stress, depression, or mental health crises. Trained volunteers offer compassionate listening and crisis response, and when needed, connect callers with licensed psychologists for free counselling.

Since its launch on February 29, 2024, Talk Hope has already connected more than 100,000 people across the country through phone, digital, and community services – one of the largest youth-led mental health initiatives in Bangladesh.

Mental health care needs to be accessible to everyone, regardless of income or circumstances,” said Kanan Faysal, Talk Hope Founder. “We want to ensure that nobody in Bangladesh feels like they have to suffer in silence — because words can literally save lives.”

Talk Hope, in addition to the helpline, also holds awareness workshops in schools, universities, and among local communities regularly to promote emotional well-being and prevent suicide.

The program has been hailed by professionals as a “step of transformation” towards establishing a care and stigma-free community where seeking help is something that is positively encouraged.

With its catchphrase “You Talk, We Listen, You Heal,” Talk Hope continues to be a beacon of hope and healing to thousands of needy individuals.
