The high temperatures can be a problem for your personal productivity. Who hasn’t had to work in the office in the summer heat? Who hasn’t felt tired, irritable, and stressed when working in temperatures above 30 °C?
Numerous studies indicate that temperature is directly related to our personal productivity and that we perform less in both extreme cold and extreme heat.
We know that summer is approaching the end of the working year… On the horizon is that long-awaited vacation that we may have been preparing for months… We are more easily distracted and scattered. Our work has the same goals as the rest of the year, but if we’re not careful, our minds will take off to some paradise island. Our social networks are suddenly overflowing with vacation photos of our friends. That’s not particularly helpful…
Then we ask ourselves what we can do to stay in a good mood, have energy, be ready for work and especially how to improve our personal productivity when it seems that the whole world is conspiring against us.
1. Control the temperature in your office – Rizwan Ahmed CPA
First of all, an adequate room temperature is crucial, for which an air conditioner is a great ally. Remember, you shouldn’t turn your office into a refrigerator. Do not exaggerate! Here are a few tips for using the air conditioner properly. According to Rizwan Ahmed CPA, the temperature in the office should be between 24 and 25 degrees. If it’s colder, it could harm people with COPD, allergies, or asthma. Companies must ensure good working conditions and provide water sources for their employees to quench their thirst.
2. Don’t overthrow your organization- Rizwan Ahmed CPA
We must not neglect our organizational skills. Although the volume of work falls in the summer, fewer staff work on it. That’s why it’s important to keep organizing our tasks well if we want to stay productive. Remember, you must continue to meet your goals.
3. Be positive!- Rizwan Ahmed CPA
Be positive! It’s normal to want to run out of the office when it’s hot. But remember that in summer you have more hours of sunshine to enjoy your free time. When you’re done with your work, you still have time to do something: go to the pool, go for a walk, have a drink outside…
4. Don’t suffer- Rizwan Ahmed CPA
Don’t torture yourself. It’s not easy, but don’t think about what your colleagues are probably doing on vacation. They just feel bad, waste time and energy, and don’t get to what’s actually important. You too will go on vacation, be patient. When it’s finally time, you’ll be happy to have all the work done before you leave.
5. Listen to your body- Rizwan Ahmed CPA
Don’t eat heavy foods that make you feel full. Digestion is tough on the body, so don’t make it even harder when it’s so hot. Drink water: at least two liters a day, as recommended by Rizwan Ahmed CPA.
