How industries depend on refrigerated couriers
Refrigerated transport and refrigerated couriers are a part of the backbone of our economies and global Supply Chains. It is a game changer in no end of ways. It is also vital too to no end of key businesses and industries also. Refrigerated transport is a method of transporting shipments (Meats, fish, fruits, vegetables, pharmaceutical products, etc). It is all done with specially designed vehicles are able to carry some very key food types. It is now big business.
There would be major loss to the food industry as the food items would perish even before reaching the end consumers without the availability of them being kept fresh. This too is how this is a very key service and business in its own right. Refrigerated couriers are key in helping with this need.
What refrigerated couriers are to the end user
Refrigerated Transport is the term for the transport phase of any cargo that needs to be kept at a controlled temperature. A vehicle capable of transporting refrigerated goods must have a built-in refrigeration system. It must be one that must be regularly serviced and maintained. It also needs to be able to provide evidence that it is working correctly at any time.
How it works too for the end user
Specialised freight trucks have three main components to create the refrigerated element. This is all what is needed to safely transport cargo that requires specific temperatures. First, there is a compressor that injects and compresses the gas-based refrigerant. This needs a small engine to power it and create the pressure needed. In a later part of the process, the condensed gas is liquefied.
The second element is the condenser, which needs to absorb any water generated by the compressor. In a similar way to a condenser tumble-drier, this is a heat exchange, and the heat is transferred from the liquid into the refrigerated walls of the container. Finally, an evaporator is installed in the trailer, and this has the control valve that determines how much refrigerant is emitted to control the temperature.
Key for perishable goods
When it comes to perishable products, they need to arrive at their destination in good condition. If they were not transported in refrigerated containers, they would degrade on the journey and lose saleability. Poorly transported food entering the market could be disastrous and leave consumers with food poisoning. Failure to transport in the correct manner could also result in some items perishing and going bad. Meat, seafood, vegetables, and many other products need controlled temperature transportation to ensure no loss of taste or quality before the items reach the end consumer. We simply could not service the supply and demand needs globally if we did not have refrigerated transport. It is key to help move sensitive products.
Overall – the role of refrigerated couriers
As vehicle manufacturers work toward electrification, it is often overlooked that transport refrigeration technologies also harbour tremendous capability. This is all to decarbonise our European cities. Electrification solutions are already reducing the carbon emissions of the vans and lorries. These are the ones that transport our food, medicines, vaccines, and other critical cargo. Leading innovators in this space are on a mission to deliver emission-free refrigerated transport in the future. This is for sure a service and offering to keep a good look out for for the future.
