Tourism in Crete continues its steady rise in 2025. The island welcomed more than one million international air arrivals during the first five months of the year, reflecting a 5.6 percent increase compared to 2024 according to INSETE data.

The season is starting earlier, hotel occupancy is stronger, and local activity providers are reporting higher volume across most services.

Maritime tourism is one of the categories benefiting the most. Crete now offers 31 organized sea tours that cover a wide range of interests.

Short half day cruises work well for travelers who want a simple coastal outing, while full day sailing trips attract those looking to visit secluded beaches, swim in quieter bays and enjoy meals on board.

This mix appeals to first time visitors along with returning travelers who want to discover different parts of the coastline.

Demand is strong across hotel guests, cruise passengers and frequent visitors who know the island well. Many want quick ways to compare routes, vessel types and pricing without navigating dozens of individual operators. People often search for sailing rental catamarans in Greece when planning their premium day trips. This helps them gather information, understand typical tour structures and decide what kind of experience fits their schedule before they arrive.

Why this matters
– More tourists mean higher demand for both short and long excursions.
– Half day tours work well for cruise travelers with limited time.
– Full day tours are popular with families and multi day holidaymakers.
– The island benefits from strong infrastructure and good airport access.

Key data insights
– Crete expects continued growth throughout 2025.
– Surveys show high satisfaction in culture and hospitality across Greece.
– Mixed format tours, especially sailing tours, are one of the fastest growing segments.

“Offering both half day and full day tours helps us match what guests want. It improves charter use and gives visitors more choice. This leads to better feedback and stronger repeat bookings,” says Kamnaki Maria, Reservation Manager at Daneri Yachts.
