Atlanta, GA / Austin, TX – 23 June 2025 — The Global Association for Research and Innovation (GARI), a distinguished international body recognized for advancing global research collaboration, innovation, and mentorship, has entered into a formal partnership with Georgia State University (GSU) to launch Bridging Futures: A Community-Engaged Mentoring Program for Latinx and International Students in Atlanta.

The program, co-led by Drs. María Elena Bermúdez, Rosita Scerbo, and Marta Galindo Parra from GSU’s Department of World Languages and Cultures, is designed to address the academic, professional, and cultural needs of displaced and underrepresented students. By connecting participants with graduate mentors, trusted community professionals, and international peers, Bridging Futures seeks to strengthen academic achievement, expand career opportunities, and cultivate a strong sense of belonging for students navigating displacement and cultural transitions.

A Partnership Rooted in Global Credibility

GARI’s selection as a confirmed community partner reflects the association’s prestige and international standing. Over the past two decades, GARI has established itself as a globally recognized platform for research and innovation, uniting scholars, professionals, and institutions from diverse disciplines and regions.

Its flagship academic journals, including CogNexus: Journal of Multidisciplinary Research and Econova: A Journal of Business, Commerce, and Economic Research, are internationally indexed and provide open access avenues for disseminating high-impact scholarship. GARI also convenes international conferences, webinars, and mentorship initiatives that bring together leading voices in academia, policy, and industry.

Crucially, the association administers the GARI Fellowship Award, a prestigious recognition granted through a rigorous selection process judged by national and international experts. Fellows of GARI represent a distinguished community of scholars and leaders whose expertise spans science, technology, the arts, humanities, and social sciences. This fellowship recognition, alongside GARI’s academic publishing and global convening power, underscores the credibility and prestige that institutions like Georgia State University value in selecting GARI as a partner.

GARI’s Commitments to Bridging Futures

As part of its role in the program, GARI has committed to:

• Providing international mentors: Graduate-level mentors and global professionals from GARI’s network will guide students in academic goal-setting, career exploration, and personal development.

• Facilitating intercultural workshops: GARI will co-lead virtual and hybrid sessions on intercultural belonging, resilience, and global career pathways, featuring speakers from its pool of scholars and fellows.

• Launching the “Bridging Futures Spotlight Series”: A quarterly feature showcasing student and mentor achievements across GARI’s digital platforms and in its academic journal CogNexus.

• Extending global visibility: Through its international partnerships and media networks, GARI will amplify program milestones, ensuring that success stories reach audiences well beyond Atlanta.

• Providing expert letters of support: Recognizing that displaced and international students often face legal and immigration uncertainties, GARI will extend its expertise by offering recommendation or opinion letters to support academic transitions, fellowships, and immigration documentation.

Voices from Leadership

Dr. Jimoh Braimoh, President of GARI, emphasized the significance of the collaboration:
“This partnership with Georgia State University reflects not only our shared commitment to mentorship and inclusion, but also GARI’s stature as a prestigious international platform. Through our globally recognized fellowship program, indexed journals, and international mentorship networks, we bring credibility and visibility that elevate initiatives like Bridging Futures. We are honored to contribute to this transformative program and to empower the next generation of Latinx and international leaders.”

Representatives at Georgia State University echoed this sentiment, noting that GARI’s expertise and international reach will be instrumental in shaping a program that is both locally grounded and globally impactful.

Global Recognition and Future Outlook

The Bridging Futures program has been submitted under the Atlanta Global Studies Center’s 2025–26 Call for Proposals on Youth Displacement and, if awarded, will run from October 2025 through September 2026. It will convene multiple community partners, including cultural associations, refugee support networks, and international organizations.

For GARI, this partnership represents another milestone in its ongoing mission to build bridges across cultures, empower underserved communities, and strengthen global academic and professional collaboration. It also further consolidates the association’s reputation as a prestigious international hub for innovation, mentorship, and academic leadership.
