Every life unfolds in chapters. Some are marked by light, some by struggle, and others by the quiet endurance of dreams that refuse to fade. For Debraj Saha, life is a journey shaped not just by personal ambition, but by an uncommon commitment to the collective good.
Born on March 15, 2002, in the village of Purandarpur, Birbhum, Debraj grew up in a close-knit family supported by his parents, grandfather, and elder brother. Even in his formative years, he possessed a temperament that set him apart. He understood early on that life is not measured solely by personal accolades, but by the impact one leaves on the lives of others.

Debraj began his education at Ananda Marga Primary School before moving to Purandarpur High School, where he emerged as a respected figure. He was known for his academic rigor, but it was his involvement in cultural activities, public speaking, and social causes that truly defined him. Teachers and peers alike recall a young man instinctively drawn to responsibility whether assisting a struggling friend or standing in solidarity with a family in distress, Debraj was often the first to respond. After completing his higher secondary education in 2020, he pursued his passion for English Literature at Suri Vidyasagar College, eventually earning his Master’s degree from The University of Burdwan in 2025. For Debraj, literature was never confined to the classroom; it became a lens through which to understand humanity and give voice to the unspoken.

His path, however, was not without its shadows. A period of personal setbacks once left him withdrawn, and his writing remained confined to private journals. He later admitted to hesitating to share his work, fearing it might be misunderstood. Yet, these trials became the seeds of renewal. With the steadfast support of his family and mentors, he regained his confidence, returning to his craft with newfound clarity. As his voice strengthened, recognition followed. He earned distinctions in various competitive forums, noted for his intellectual depth and quiet confidence. To Debraj, the written word is more than an art form; it is a tool for social engagement.

What truly defines Debraj is his unwavering social commitment. Driven by a desire to uplift the vulnerable, he founded “Debraj Saha Social Initiatives”, a grassroots effort supporting marginalized communities. What began as a solo mission evolved into a humanitarian movement. As friends and well-wishers began contributing essentials, the initiative took on a new identity: “Sankalpa”, reflecting his belief that meaningful change begins with a sincere resolve. A significant milestone arrived in 2026 when his short story named “Sarbamangala” was published at the Kolkata International Book Fair. Even this literary achievement served a higher purpose Debraj pledged 80 percent of the book’s proceeds to charitable work, seamlessly bridging the gap between literature and service. In recognition of his contributions to youth leadership, he was honored with the Youth Icon Award by the International Nava Nakshatra Organisation in 2025.

Today, Debraj Saha stands at the intersection of literary pursuit and social responsibility. He represents a generation that believes success is hollow unless it reaches beyond the self. In an era often defined by self-interest, his journey offers a profound message that compassion, when matched with conviction, becomes a life’s most enduring work. For more details, please contact journalist Md.
