In the tragic murder case of seven-year-old schoolgirl Ramisa Akter in the Pallabi area of Dhaka, the prime accused, Sohel Rana, has voluntarily given a confessional statement before the court.
The incident has sparked intense nationwide discussion, while grief and anger continue to spread across the country.
Court Confession
Arrested accused Sohel Rana gave a confessional statement under Section 164 before the court. According to court sources, he admitted to taking the child inside the same building on the day of the incident and later described the sequence of events that followed.
In his statement, he also mentioned that he was under the influence of drugs at the time.

People participating in protests demanded speedy justice and the highest punishment for those responsible.
Law enforcement agencies stated that all aspects of the incident are being thoroughly investigated and that efforts are underway to complete the investigation quickly. Authorities are also emphasizing the speedy completion of the judicial process.
The murder of Ramisa Akter has cast a deep shadow of sorrow across Bangladesh as a heartbreaking tragedy. Investigation and judicial proceedings are ongoing.
Various organizations across the country are holding human chains and protest rallies demanding justice.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed stated that the charge sheet in the case involving the rape and brutal murder of child Ramisa in Pallabi would be submitted to the court on Sunday. He expressed hope that the trial in the special court would be completed within five to seven days. The government expects the accused to receive the maximum punishment.
The Home Minister made these remarks on Sunday (24 May) while responding to journalists’ questions at a dialogue organized by the Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters Forum at the Secretariat media center.
He said that although the matter is entirely under the jurisdiction of the court, the government hopes that the court will ensure the highest punishment for the accused. He further stated that the government is firmly committed to ensuring the speedy disposal of the case and punishment for those responsible.
Meanwhile, the court has set June 1 for the hearing on framing charges in the case involving the rape and throat-slitting murder of child Ramisa in Pallabi, Mirpur, Dhaka.
