Key Growth Drivers and Opportunities
Increasing Adoption of Cloud Computing: One of the major factors leading to the significant growth of the AI Model-as-a-Service (MaaS) market is the increasing use of cloud computing that guarantees the availability of convenient infrastructure, worldwide accessibility, and on-the-fly analytics. By leveraging cloud platforms, organizations can deploy Al models that are compatible with other systems, without the need for large funding in equipment and expert skills. This has made Al more cost-effective, scalable, and accessible to a broader range of industries.
Challenges
There are some constraints with the Al model-as-a-service (MaaS) market such as the risk of data privacy and security, reliance on cloud providers that are external parties, difficulties in integrating with old systems, worries about the model being incomprehensible and unfair as well as expensive subscriptions at the large scale, which can limit the widespread use of this technology.
Innovation and Expansion
NTT DATA Announced Strategic Collaboration Enhancements with the Launch of Tsuzumi on Microsoft Azure
In June 2024, NTT DATA, a global leader in digital business and IT services, announced the availability of the Tsuzumi via the Microsoft Azure AI Models-as-a-Service (MaaS) offering. The development represents a new milestone in a 25-year relationship dedicated to pioneering technology solutions that promote sustainability and creativity.
Tsuzumi, a Large Language Model (LLM) with strong capabilities in Japanese and English, is intended to alleviate environmental and economic issues commonly associated with LLMs. Tsuzumi makes powerful AI technologies, such as Generative AI, available to a broader variety of consumers and applications by modifying model size without sacrificing performance.
Microsoft Partners with Mistral AI to Boost Models-as-a-Service (MaaS) Footprint
In March 2024, Microsoft has entered into a multiyear partnership with Paris-based AI start-up Mistral, to expand its influence in the AI sector beyond its existing deal with OpenAI. Though financial details remain undisclosed, Microsoft will invest in Mistral as part of the agreement. The partnership extends to research and development collaboration, focusing on building applications for EU and addressing public sector-specific needs using AI models.
Mistral AI becomes the second provider of commercial language models on Microsoft’s Azure cloud computing platform. Microsoft’s existing USD 13 billion investment in OpenAI is currently under scrutiny by the U.S. government, EU, and U.K.
Inventive Sparks, Expanding Markets
The main measures for the expansion of companies offering Al modelling as a service (MaaS) are the rise of cloud partnerships, the provision of industry-specific and low-code Al models, ensuring data security and compliance, collaborating with organizations, as well as implementing explainable and ethical Al to cultivate the acceptance of a broader range of users.
