After the event: how to follow up with contacts your business gains

Date:

When you go to a business meeting or visit a conference, it’s only natural that you are going to be meeting a wide range of people from many other companies. If all goes well at your conferences, it’s crucial that you are able to reach out to the people you meet once the event is completed. After all, you may want their insight or the prospect of working with them in the future! Here are some tips and tricks on how you can follow up with contacts once you have completed a business meeting.

Exchanging contact details

Of course, one of the simplest ways to follow up with anyone is to ask for their contact details. This could include their phone number, fax number or email. To make things simpler, you can offer your own details on a card. That way they know how they can reach out to you as well. Of course, this may get a little more complicated if you are speaking to contacts in an online medium. Well, once you have concluded your stream on your online webinar platform, make sure to offer your own details first on a visual aid. If there is anyone in specific whose contact details you want, invite them to exchange details in a private chat or ask them to send them to your email.

Contacts List

Whether you are at a public meeting or are attending an online event, the best thing you can do to find out contact details is to ask them to use a contact sheet. By keeping a list of details, including their email and phone number, you will find that you can reach out to them when you want to get them involved in your business. So, keep things simple and ask their permission to contact them. That way your business can expand.

Organize informal meetings

Meetings in an informal setting are the perfect way to get to know other people from a different business. You can meet up in a coffee shop or organize a dinner at a restaurant. Inviting a few people is the perfect way to make sure that everyone can make connections. However, you can just invite one or two people if you have a business transaction in mind. If you are feeling worried about social distancing then invite them to a private meeting via Zoom. That way you can create a comfortable setting without the worry of having to see them in person. Don’t forget that if you meet them during a webinar, you may also want to consider asking them to stay behind to exchange details. That way there is no pressure.

Cultivate social media presence

If you are feeling confident, another way that you can reach out to your contacts is through social media. LinkedIn is the perfect place to speak to new business partners and contacts on a professional level. Simply ask for their LinkedIn details and you will be able to speak to them through a LiveChat function.
