Dhaka, August 29, 2025 – Talk Hope, in collaboration with the Dr. Muhammad Fakhrul Islam Foundation, organized a workshop on “Active Listening & Crisis Support” at the Faith Bangladesh Auditorium, Dhaka. The day-long training (4:00 PM – 7:30 PM) was designed to build the capacity of Talk Hope volunteers in crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and mental health support.
The workshop featured six interactive sessions led by prominent trainers: Md Saddam Hossain Roni (Founder of Talk Hope & Secretary General of Dr. Muhammad Fakhrul Islam Foundation), Chanda Mahjabeen (Founder of Haal Cherona Bondhu), Psychologist Rowshan Ara Zaman (Convener, Dhaka Division, Bangladesh Psychologist Association), Mehenaj Munni (News Presenter, BTV), Samiul Azom (Special Child Educator), and Kanan Faysal (Co-Founder & Coordinator, Youth, Talk Hope).
Participants engaged in roleplays, decision-making drills, and reflection circles while raising real-life questions on confidentiality, suicidal risk assessment, and self-care for volunteers. Trainers offered practical strategies that volunteers can apply during helpline calls.
Speaking at the closing session, Md Saddam Hossain Roni said, “We are preparing the foundation for something bigger. Very soon, Talk Hope will launch a 24/7 free call center dedicated to suicide prevention and mental health support. We also plan to expand our services to support children with special needs.”
Trainer Chanda Mahjabeen expressed her appreciation, saying, “Talk Hope is doing remarkable work in creating a culture of listening and compassion. I am committed to supporting this noble cause so that the initiative can reach more people in need.”
Psychologist Rowshan Ara Zaman added, “Mental health cannot be addressed alone. I, along with my team, will offer free counseling services for Talk Hope to ensure sustainable support for callers in crisis.”
The workshop ended with certificate distribution and a renewed pledge from volunteers to dedicate themselves to the mission of saving lives and building resilience in communities.
