The process of fitness coaching progresses through several stages:

  • Females offer background information via a detailed questionnaire and during the first coaching session so that Women’s fitness coach are well-versed in the important concerns, such as medical limits.
  • Clients and coaches commit orally to a three-month fitness coaching program during the initial 30–45-minute fitness coaching session (face-to-face alongside a training session, or over the phone). Clients confirm that they are willing to modify at least one aspect of their lives. A personal fitness vision, three-month priorities, and achievable targets are discussed and agreed upon in great detail. Clients also commit to 3-5 weekly targets or incremental steps toward their three-month goals.
  •  In each successive 15–30-minute coaching session, coaches and clients assess progress toward the previous week’s goals, learn something new or discover a solution to overcome an issue, and then agree on a set of goals for the following week, either weekly or as needed.
  •  Clients realize improvements in how they feel and look after a few weeks of coaching sessions, and their drive to keep trying to change grows.
  • Clients frequently face one or more hurdles in the second and third months. Coaches and clients both work hard to find ways to overcome obstacles to achieve the aim of building new fitness habits.
  • Clients often achieve more than 70% of their three-month targets by the end of three months and are invigorated and confident enough to commit to the next stage.
