Designing a brewery layout is an art project that requires real skill and experience.
It’s a subtle feeling of using space as efficiently as possible while optimizing the brewing process.
Getting the right brewery layout at the start of the project is the key to success. lotty dotty
So how do you make sure it’s perfect?
Good news – you don’t have to! That’s our job
Let’s get start your brewery layout
During these early stages of planning a brewery, we ask you some very crucial questions.
The answers will guide us to recommend you a brewing system that meets your needs.
For example:
- The size of your space- how much space do we have to use?
- Your monthly and annual production – what are your goals?
- Your budget – what equipment is available within a reasonable budget?
Then, we will calculate all the things like: mash room and cellar vessel size, equipment cost and floor space,…

Design brewery equipment into the space
With all this information in hand, let’s get into the main topic – the Tetris game.
Who doesn’t love a good Tetris session?
Our first goal is to get CAD space drawings from designers. This drawing is critical – if we are dealing with an inaccurate drawing it can lead us to high costs.
At this stage, we want to determine the dimensions of each piece of equipment.
We encourage sharing this information with all stakeholders involved in your project, especially designers and general contractors. Secure equipment space and handle the load – because the weight adds up quickly! This includes all auxiliary equipment such as steam boilers, glycol coolers, water filters, packaging equipment, etc.
Why accuracy matters
Underestimating the weight can cause the foundation to crack. We also need to consider trench drainage, if the weight is too high, it will destroy the structure of the house, and if the ceiling is not high enough, it will reduce the height clearance.
The size and location of the equipment needs to be determined. You can also run into serious problems if they are off even by a millimeter.
When it comes to unloading if even one piece of equipment doesn’t fit in the space – the entire design is thrown away and can lead to more problems!
Take out the pencil!
Once we’ve confirmed what equipment we need and in how much space we can fit in, we start drawing.
We’ll create a series of diagrams that directly represent your brewery layout – exactly the same as in real life.
When we design your layout of the brewery, we also consider some important things:
Process Path – Design a layout that flows with the brewing process to avoid redundant tasks and actions.
Utilities – When designing a brewery layout, we consider factors such as plumbing and electrical outlets.
Room for expansion – By planning ahead for additional space, you will save on the cost of redesigning the layout of your equipment.
