Why Reloading Ammo Is A Fun Hobby

For many people, reloading ammo sounds about as much fun as pulling out teeth. But we think it’s excellent and it is one of our favorite hobbies. We actually enjoy reloading ammo.

Throughout the rest of this article we will try to convince you why reloading ammo is a fun hobby, and something every avid shooter, even every hobby shooter should do.

  1. Think About What To Buy With All The Money You Are Saving

The main reason people tend to consider getting themselves set up to reload their own ammo is to save money. Though some might have ambitions of survival, and having the ability to reload their ammo and others might like to do it because they can customize their rounds, most people do it because you can save quite a bit of money, especially if you do it over a long period.

So for us, reloading ammo is fun, because we can sit there and imagine all that money we are saving, and what we want to do with that money instead.

  1. Start Planning Your Next Hunt/Range Trip

When you take a couple of hours to reload ammo, it’s also a great opportunity, to sit there and start planning your next hunt. As you handle those bullets intricately, you’ll have a strong connection to the shooting activity, and will start celebrating the ideal shoot you are planning to do in the future.

If you do not plan on going hunting and are just getting set up to go to the range, then likewise you can start planning and building a sense of anticipation toward the next session at the range.

You can imagine driving up there, what food you can have there with you, how many rounds you plan to shoot, who might be there with you, and how many beers you plan to drink at the end of that day.

  1. Do It With Your Friends and Family

If you have the right setup, configured in the right way, reloading ammo is something you can do with your friends and family. This is quality time to chat, joke, and strengthen those bonds, that you then take out hunting, or to the range with you.

Reloading ammo does it need to be something that takes you away from your family and friends, it can be something that brings you together.

  1. Play Some Great Music While You Do It

Reloading ammo is also a great opportunity to spend some time listening to the music you love. Whether it was the stuff you were brought up on or modern stuff that you enjoy, it’s a great time to connect with music, especially if your day-to-day life makes it hard to do that.

If you are not into music, you could substitute that for a podcast from your favorite podcast host, or talkback radio. Either way, it’s a great time to take something in with your ears, while you are doing something with your hands.

  1. Have Your Favorite TV Show/Sport Going In The Background

The same goes for TV. Though you want to make sure most of your focus is on the reloading activity, to ensure you put the right amount of each ingredient in the round, there’s no harm in having the TV going in the background, with the football game you haven’t seen yet, or the TV series that you are currently binging. You can look up occasionally and see what’s going on, and keep up with the story whilst you’re saving heaps of money getting your rounds reloaded.

  1. You Can Customize Them How You Like

Though it is important not to stray too far from the recommended recipes, it can be fascinating when reloading your ammo to slightly alter the ingredients, and customize the rounds to your liking. Whether wanting something with a bit less kick, or you want around with a little bit more kick, you can have fun making those small changes, you otherwise couldn’t buy from a shop.
