What is Fibroblast Skin Treatment?

Fibroblast Skin Treatment, is also known as Fibroblast Plasma Treatment. The microwave treatments was developed by Dr. Rox Anderson of Massachusetts General Hospital have been shown in every peer-reviewed study to remove the top layers of aging skin while leaving healthy collagen intact. It even works on brown spots! In a clinical trial that was published in the prestigious journal Dermatologic Surgery , the treatment improved photoaged skin with no side effects. The mechanism of action is probably elastin formation, similar to Fraxel/Clear + Brilliant/Dermapen micro needling lasers, but at a fraction of the cost and less downtime.

In a world full of highly expensive medical treatments with little or no real innovation in years, this is refreshing news. On average, it takes 18 treatments to see a difference. The only known side effect is a temporary pink flush that goes away in 2 minutes. A recent study of 400 patients showed significant improvement after as little as 8 weeks of treatment with long-term benefits. In our opinion, these results are superior to Fraxel laser and extremely competitively priced at around $150 per session making this a real winner for those looking for an effective anti-aging treatment without breaking the bank.

How Does it Work?

It works by sending a plasma beam from an instrument to your skin. The device is designed with a very powerful magnet which allows the plasma beam to be directed through a cold optical window onto the skin. These cold plasma beams reach deep into the dermis, where collagen lies below the epidermis, and emits radio frequency waves that generate heat within these tissues resulting in rejuvenation of aged skin. This process also increases elastin production in sun-damaged skin, making it look smoother and more youthful-even plumper!

The process takes just a few minutes. The deepest layers of sun-damaged cells are removed, revealing fresher younger skin underneath. The treated area is then cooled with an ice pack or cold air blower to protect it against excessive heat, which can damage the other cells in the epidermis.

When you first arrive for a fibroblast treatment you need to make sure you have clean hairless skin since preparation is minimal! There are no serious side effects other than mild redness for a short period of time. Within 2 minutes after treatment your skin should look normal again. If there are no complications, you can immediately resume your normal activities.

The treatment is typically done on the face, neck and décolletage but it works well all over the body. The number of treatments needed will depend on a number of factors including how much sun damage you have, how frequently you had chemical peels or laser procedures in the past, etc – but most patients see a visible improvement after 8 – 12 weeks.

The cost for this procedure varies from $100 – $200 depending on location and other variables such as Medicare reimbursement rates (which vary state to state), so look around for specials if possible! Generally speaking, each treatment takes about 5 minutes so many people choose to do several areas at once such as their face and neck.

The treatment is performed in the office, is not painful nor does it require any down time. Generally there are no side effects whatsoever beyond a mild pink flush that dissipates in 2 minutes with ice or cold air blower.

We’ve noticed an improvement after 2 treatments on our crow’s feet area around the eyes…new firming of loose skin, reduction in fine lines & wrinkles, and some brown spots even seem to be fading with each successive treatment. We’re really pleased with the results so far from our experience with treatments and we’re sure you will be too!
