What do students put in lockers? - student locker

Lockers have become essential to a student’s life, instilling some important qualities. This quality includes helping students develop the art of organizing and planning. While students still carry backpacks to school, some may wonder why schools still bother to purchase lockers and what students put in those lockers.

Lockers help students keep their items tidy and secure. So, whether you just moved to a new school with lockers or you are wondering what others put in their school lockers, in this article, we will be talking about some of the things students put in lockers.

Basic things students put in their locker

The things students put in their lockers depend on what the students like. What can be kept in the locker depends largely on the students. There are limits to the items that can be kept in the lockers.

When students are assigned a locker, they usually also get a manual on their responsibility for the lockers. The manual lists items not permitted on the school premises and in the locker. If you are wondering what students can keep in their lockers, below are a list of items students can put in their lockers.

School supplies

School supplies are one basic item in every student’s locker. This can range from anything like books to textbooks and amenities needed for everyday learning activities. Hence, instead of storing them in the backpack, which will end up causing the student to haul around a heavy backpack, they can easily store them in their locker. When they need that material, they can reach out to their locker to pick it up. This allows the student to focus on other things rather than being exhausted from the effort required to drag a heavy bag from one class to the other.

Electronic devices

Students can also store away electronic devices in their lockers. While students can carry their cell phones and laptops to school, they are not allowed to bring them to some classes to avoid distraction. Hence, they can store them in their lockers temporarily, which is secure since no other student has the keys or combination to their lockers.

In essence, if a student is mandated by their guardian to carry their cell phone to school, they can bring them to school and keep them in their locker to avoid distraction and have peace of mind knowing that it is safe from theft.

Sports items

Another very common item students put in their lockers is sports items. You often find these items in the lockers of students who indulge in school or after-school sports. With the help of the locker, the students can safely keep their sporting gear and easily retrieve it when needed. This eliminates the possibility of students confusing their equipment, as they would if the equipment was kept in a common storage unit.

Students can keep all sorts of sporting gear in their lockers, including balls, rackets, vests, footwear, gloves, etc. As long as it fits in the locker, it can be stored there.

Clothes and other accessories

Students also commonly keep clothing and other accessories in their lockers. This can be needed for example if anything happens while in school that will require the student to change. For example, some students store swimsuits, socks, leggings, beanie hats, etc.

Some students even include an umbrella and extra pairs of footwear or boots in extreme weather conditions. In such cases, rather than going home in the cold, especially when they didn’t prepare for that type of day, they can easily reach their locker and pick up an item to keep warm before heading home.

Personal items

Also, you will find personal items in the locker of students. This includes things like diaries, photographs, and so on. Some students keep lipsticks, body lotion, deodorant, cologne, toothbrushes, floss, and mouthwash in their lockers. Some even include a mirror in their locker, which helps them maintain their look. It gives an extra personal touch to the locker, and usually shows a bit of the student’s personality.
