We bet you have made one of these driving mistakes

It does not matter whether you are a pro driver with years of experience or a beginner who has just started, it is normal for anyone to make driving mistakes. Driving can be the most liberating experience and if something goes wrong, it can be traumatic.

Today, we will discuss the most common driving errors that occur on the road.

Getting aggressive on the road

When you begin driving, don’t assume that people are sophisticated, disciplined or obeying all the traffic rules. When you hit the road, expect the worst. People will cut you off, overtake you without any indication or make sudden turns.

You have to stay calm. Losing your temper on things like these will not only increase your stress but also put your life in danger

Using high-quality fuel

Many people think that using a premium fuel such as high-octane will improve the performance of their vehicle. This is not true. Putting high-octane in your machine won’t make it perform better if it’s not the right fuel for your car. It can damage your vehicle. So, use the fuel that is recommended by your car manufacturer.

Over-speeding

Over-speeding is still the most popular problem in the world that puts lives in danger. Speeding is thrilling but it can put your life at risk. Don’t get carried away with the amusement of high-speed driving. 65 mph is considered a safe speed if the weather is clear, and your brakes are working properly. However, if the conditions are wet or you don’t have good visibility, then drive as slow as you can.

Maintain the optimal distance between vehicles

The two-second rule is a popular principle that is followed all over the world. You should maintain enough distance with the car next to you that if it stops abruptly, you don’t end up colliding with it.

Driving too close to the other vehicle is called tailgating. Tailgating is dangerous, especially in bad weather conditions when hydroplaning is common. As discussed earlier, you will come across every type of driver when you get behind the wheels, including reckless and fast drivers.

Even if the driver is following all the rules and staying conscious, he or she may still need to hit the brake paddle quickly. For instance, they might encounter a kid trying to cross the road or an animal may appear in front of them. So, the best way to avoid any uncertainty is by keeping a distance of at least 2 seconds.

Assuming that the puddle is not deep

The last thing you want to do when getting behind the wheels is making assumptions. You need to be certain about everything when you are on the road. If you about to run over a puddle, don’t assume its depth. If you know it’s not deep, you should drive slowly and then dry your brakes after passing it.

If you don’t know how deep it is then you should take another route. Falling into a deep puddle will allow the water to enter your ignition and will do major damage to your machine. If your vehicle is light in weight, it can even cause your car to float.

Overlooking important signs

If you are driving a truck, a bus or an SUV, you will be at an advantage since the tall vehicle will provide you a better view of the road. This is because bus and truck tyres are sizable and taller than standard tyres.

If you are in a smaller vehicle, you can still notice hints by observing other vehicles on the road and staying attentive. For instance, if buses and trucks around you start changing their lanes all of sudden, you should do the same. Because it is more likely that they have seen an unpleasant situation on the lane ahead.
