Biography of Vladimir Yevtushenkov
Early years and education
Vladimir Petrovich Yevtushenkov was born in September 1948 in a small village in the Smolensk region. His father ran a local dairy; his mother worked as a milkmaid.
After graduating from school, Yevtushenkov Vladimir was drafted into the ranks of the Soviet army. Then he entered the capital’s university – the Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology. Received the profession of engineer-technologist. He defended his diploma in 1973.
He received his second higher education while already working in the industry. Vladimir Petrovich entered Lomonosov Moscow State University at the Faculty of Economics. He received his diploma in 1980.
Also, Yevtushenkov Vladimir defended two dissertations in the field of economics – A ph.D. in 1986 and a doctoral in 2001 – with the assignment of appropriate scientific degrees.
Vladimir Yevtushenkov’s career before AFK
In 1973, Vladimir Petrovich Yevtushenkov began working at a large chemical plant in Dzerzhinsk. For two years, he worked as a foreman at the Plant of Ya.M. Sverdlov, then received a promotion and became the head of the section.
In 1975, Vladimir Petrovich moved to the head of one of the workshops of the capital’s Karacharovsky Plastics Plant (now Polimerbyt). He proposed an innovative idea – a high-tech method of injection molding thermoplastics using low-temperature thermostats-refrigerators. The development was implemented, and its author received the Lenin Komsomol Prize in 1980. Two years later, Vladimir Yevtushenkov was appointed chief engineer and deputy director of the plant.
Business of Vladimir Yevtushenkov
In 1993, AFK Sistema appeared – a joint-stock financial corporation founded by Yevtushenkov Vladimir and his associates.
AFK Sistema owns assets in such areas as:
- telecom, information, and satellite technologies;
- retail trade and e-commerce;
- lumber processing;
- Agriculture;
- finances;
- tourism;
- pharmaceuticals and biotechnologies;
- the medicine;
- energy.
The first significant assets were acquired by the corporation already in 1993. Sistema invested in telecommunications, as well as in real estate and construction.
Subsequently, AFK Sistema acquired shares in Detsky Mir. Yevtushenkov Vladimir and his team of managers managed to multiply the scale of the business. The network outlets have increased from 28 at the initial stage to 850 in 2020. During this period, AFK exited the shareholders with a profit. In 1995, the corporation entered the capital of a cellular operator. Based on this asset, a big technology company was subsequently created.
In 2006, Yevtushenkov Vladimir created the Binnopharm pharmaceutical enterprise, based on which the Binnopharm Group company was formed in 2020. It includes five industrial sites and an R&D division with five centers of excellence for developing biological products.
Yevtushenkov also founded other assets. Among them is the timber-holding Segezha Group. It is subdivided into several business divisions: forestry, wood processing, pulp and paper, and paper packaging businesses.
Also, AFK Sistema is among the shareholders of the MEDSI private clinic chain, the innovative company Sistema-BioTech, the Concept Group retailer, the Steppe agricultural holding, the hotel management company Cosmos Hotel Group and some other assets.
In 2022, Vladimir Yevtushenkov left his post at AFK Sistema and focused on charitable activities.
Charity and social activities of Vladimir Yevtushenkov
Vladimir Petrovich Yevtushenkov has been investing in charitable projects for about 20 years. In 2004, he founded one of the largest charitable foundations in Russia.
Also, for 18 years, Vladimir Yevtushenkov has been the head of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Museum Development Fund.
