Take screen break

Prolonged usage of the screen is responsible for dry eye syndrome. So, if you are someone who is often working on a laptop or phone, you are most likely to suffer dry eye syndrome if you work continuously for 4 to 5 hours straight. So, it is advisable to take short breaks in between and give your eyes some rest. Try to take a short break every 20 mins. In your break time, close your eyes for 5 mins, do some eye exercises. This helps your eyes to relax and retain moisture. Also, while working, make sure you are blinking often. 

Change environment

Some outer factors affect the tear production in your eyes. When the environment around you is smoky, or windy, it can dry up your tears leaving your eyes feeling super dry. In this case, you need to change the environment around you. We understand that it’s not easy to change the area you live in. In that case, you avoid going to places where there is a lot of air movement. At home, avoid using air dryers and limit your exposure to fans. If it’s unavoidable, wear wraparound eyeglasses to protect your tears from drying out. 

Turn on Humidifier

When the air around you gets dry in seasons like winters, this can have an ill effect on the moisture of your eyes. Home heating systems can dry out the air in your home, as well as the surface of your eyes. However, a humidifier can help keep the air moist. As the season changes and your eyes start to dry out, turn on your humidifier to maintain the moisture in the air. 

If you don’t have a humidifier, you can add water to the air by placing a pan of water on your radiator. This will solve the same purpose.
