At Split Watches, we believe time is the most valuable gift we will ever have. Every second we are given is an opportunity — to grow, to connect, to reflect, to live. How we choose to use that time shapes the course of our lives. Sometimes, it’s not the years or decades that leave the deepest mark, but a single moment of clarity, one conversation that shifts perspective, or one hour that changes everything.
Split was founded by Ed Margulies, a third-generation watchmaker who chose to step away from the traditional luxury watch establishment to create something different. For Ed, watches had always been more than just finely crafted objects — they were symbols of meaning, legacy, and memory. But through his own personal journey, he came to see that a watch could also hold something deeper: the quiet power to prompt reflection and spark conversation.
“I came to understand the unique power a watch has to open up a dialogue,” Ed explains. “It’s an object you carry every day, often without thinking — and yet, it can remind you to pause, to notice how you’re really feeling, and to check in with yourself. A watch lives on the wrist, but it has the ability to speak directly to the heart.”
That realization became the foundation of Split: a brand built not only on craftsmanship, but on compassion. Every timepiece carries with it a mission — to make looking after your mental health as instinctive and natural as checking the time.
More Than a Watch
That’s why, with every watch purchased, we donate the equivalent of one hour of therapy through our partnership with the Anna Freud Charity — one of the UK’s leading organisations supporting children, young people, and families affected by mental health struggles.
Because while mental health challenges touch all of us — whether personally or through the people we love — the reality is that access to professional support remains far too limited. Waiting lists stretch on for months. Stigma continues to silence important conversations. And for many, the hardest step is simply finding a safe space to open up.
We believe no one should have to face those struggles alone. By supporting the Anna Freud Charity, Split helps provide vital therapy sessions for young people. These aren’t just appointments on a calendar — they are lifelines. Each session has the potential to create space for honesty, to help someone begin to understand themselves, and to build the resilience and hope that can change the trajectory of a life.
A Timepiece With Meaning
At its core, Split is about more than timekeeping. It’s about connection — to ourselves, to each other, and to the belief that small actions can create lasting impact. A watch may not change the world on its own. But paired with the gift of time, care, and conversation, it can be the beginning of something transformative.
