Things to remember before painting the living room

Painting is most often the most dreaded task by homeowners. However, it is also the most inexpensive way to give your home a brand-new and fresh look.

The paint colors you choose for your living room can change the mood. You can either go for a soft background with muted interiors, or you can make a bold statement with splashes of bright colors. Either way, painting is the most inexpensive tool. Here are a few things you should keep in mind when you hire a painter and discuss the maleri priser.

Prepping the room

It is best if you empty the room before painting. In the case of the living room, move large furniture towards the center and cover them up with either old sheets or plastic or drop cloths. Make sure that your printer wipes the walls down. The walls always have a buildup of oils, dust, and dust. Therefore, it must remove this debris before painting. Any holes, crack, or it should cover up gaps between doors, windows, and walls. It can use newspapers, clothes, or rolls of paper to cover the floor.

Test the paint color

Before you get the entire room painted, it is best to test how the paint looks during different times of the day. Get a small paint sample and paint a patch of your wall. Leave it for 24 hours. Check the play of light on the color for 24 hours. If after a day you are happy with the color, proceed to have the entire room painted.

Pay attention to the finish.

The finish matters as much as the main color. You can opt for high-gloss paint finishes since they are very durable and easy to clean. However, these often highlight imperfections already present in your wall. Alternatively, you can opt for a flat paint finish since this finish hides the wall imperfections. However, a matte finish has been observed to be more susceptible to damage. The safest choice to opt for here is an eggshell finish.

How much paint to buy?

Even though your painter will give you an estimate of how much paint will be needed, buy extra. Most shops will accept the cans and return the money if the can has not been opened. Having a few extra can prevent the hassle of you running to the market later and landing up with a slightly miss-matched paint color.

Always get the priming done

Make sure that your painter does not omit the priming part during maling af stue. When a primer is applied on the wall, it seals the wall allowing the paint to have a base to stick to. If there are cracks or holes in the wall, priming is needed once the holes and cracks have been filled. Priming can guarantee you a smooth finish.

Make sure you are involved with the tasks at hand. It is much easier to repair the painting process than afterward.
