The tech world’s biggest name, Apple, has just revealed its new, and thinnest ever, smartphone: the iPhone Air. The device has been described as “a piece of the future” by its lead industrial designer, Abidur Chowdhury. Crafted entirely from titanium, the 256 GB model of this smartphone is priced at $999. The iPhone 17 has arrived in the market, and the Air model is the most striking new addition to the lineup.
The most notable feature of the iPhone Air is its unbelievably slim profile. It’s a third less thick than previous models. It sports a single camera that uses a telephoto lens and artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance photo quality. Despite having a smaller battery, its battery-saving software allows it to deliver all-day battery life. The Bangladeshi-origin designer, at the device’s launch event in Cupertino, stated, “It is a paradox you will have to hold to believe.”

Who is Abidur Chowdhury?
Born and raised in London, Abidur Chowdhury now lives in San Francisco. He identifies himself as a problem-solver who wants to create products that people can’t live without. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Product Design and Technology from Loughborough University in London.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Abidur Chowdhury has worked as an Industrial Design Intern at firms like Cambridge Consultants and Carventa, and as an Industrial Designer at Layer Design. He worked as a freelancer in London before moving to California and began working for Apple in January 2019. He has been an Industrial Designer at Apple for approximately seven years. Several reports confirm that Abidur Chowdhury is of Bangladeshi descent.
During his student life, Abidur Chowdhury won several prestigious awards, including the 3D Hubs Student Grant, the James Dyson Foundation Bursary, and the Red Dot Design Award. Since January 2019, he has worked as an industrial designer for Apple in Cupertino, where he has been involved in the design of various innovative products, including the new iPhone Air.

The iPhone Air and the iPhone 17 Series
The iPhone Air is being hailed as the slimmest iPhone to date. Its uniquely designed camera platform integrates the camera, chipset, and system modules in such a way that allows for a high-density battery to be placed in the remaining space. Its AI-powered photography and battery optimization software help it deliver performance comparable to the larger models.
Alongside the iPhone Air, Apple also unveiled the new iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max models. This series features even better cameras, the new Apple A19 Pro chip, and larger displays. According to Ekhon TV, these models are expected to start pre-orders very soon, generating immense excitement among tech enthusiasts.

Is It Worth the Hype?
The iPhone Air is a testament to Apple’s design philosophy of balancing form and function. While its single camera and smaller battery might seem like a step back, the focus on design and software optimization makes it a compelling choice for those who value aesthetics and portability. The rest of the iPhone 17 series, with its improved cameras and powerful A19 Pro chip, continues Apple’s tradition of incremental but significant upgrades. The biggest buzz, however, is around the story of Abidur Chowdhury, a talented Bangladeshi-origin designer at the forefront of Apple’s innovation. The pre-order period will show just how excited the public is about this new “paradox” of a phone.
