A peripheral device is the hardware device which isn’t required to perform the basic function of a computer. The  peripheral device does include the input and the output devices of computer. The peripheral device includes the input and output devices, you can’t perform all the functions without  the installation of the peripheral devices. The peripheral device  device can be internal and external though we normally think of external devices when talking about the peripheral device.The peripheral devices are critical for inputting any command to the system and to see an output. Most of the peripheral devices are external but some peripheral devices like the LAN card are also internal.  

In this topic, we are discussing the functionality of the peripheral device and the core devices:

The Functionality of the Peripheral Device:

The peripheral devices can be internal or external but a computer can work without them. The peripheral device includes the input and the output devices.When you are talking about the input peripheral devices then it includes the  mouse, keyboard, scanners, printer, barcode reader, digital pen, webcam, microphone are some examples of input devices.

The output peripheral devices  are used to process the dta front of the computer and present the data to the users. The output peripheral devices include the monitor, printers, speakers, headphone, projectors etc. Without the input and the output devices it is impossible even to work on the computer as by the peripheral devices, we aren’t able to communicate with the computers.

Core Components and Peripheral Devices:

A computer can function and process data without the peripheral devices but it can’t work without the core components. The core components include the CPU, RAM, ROM and the motherboard. You need CPU, motherboard, power supply, RAM, and ROM to run and boot a system. 

The compatibility of the core computer devices is quite essential to run a computer properly. You can’t install a 2 MHz CPU clock speed with 16 GB of RAM, there should be compatibility in various core devices of the system. Without the compatibility of the core devices, it is impossible for a computer to run properly.

Peripheral Devices Primary Function:

The basic function of the peripheral devices is to enable us with the computer core components. A user can’t get any output from the core components of the computer without the functionality of the peripheral devices. A peripheral device whether internal or external connected directly to the computer. 

The peripheral device’s basic function is to connect the user with the computer. The peripheral devices don’t contribute to the basic computing of a computer but these devices are critical even to write a single word on a computer screen. The  peripheral devices are also called the computer peripheral or I/O devices.

Conclusion:

The  peripheral devices are critical for the functionality of the computer and laptops. There is no way we can communicate the core components like the RAM,ROM, or the processors directly with the peripheral devices.
