But Laxmi reassured her that Her child will be well cared for and showered with happiness.

Goddess Parvati acknowledged Laxmi’s pain and agreed to let her adopt Ganesh as their son. Goddess Laxmi, overcome with joy, promised to shower all of her success and good fortune onto Ganesh. Those seeking Laxmi’s financial blessings must first appease Ganesh. If you worship Laxmi without also honoring Ganesh, you won’t get her blessing. Therefore, Laxmi is usually worshiped with Ganesh during Diwali. Acquiring riches without a sound mind leads to irresponsible behavior. One must be intelligent before they can spend money sensibly. Therefore, worship of Laxmi and Ganesh occurs simultaneously.

Symbolism of the Ganesh-Laxmi Murti

The Ganesh-Laxmi Murti is rich in symbolism, with each aspect of the idol carrying deep significance:

1. Ganesh’s Presence: Lord Ganesh, known for his elephant’s head and fat belly, is a symbol of enlightenment and the remover of problemsm, this trait of the idol gives him the name of “Vighnaharta”. The huge ears of Ganesha rpresents his keen interest in listening to his devotee’s problems and prayers, the massive forehead represents the knowledge and wisdom he has to offer for his devotes. Wisdom offered by the lord helps people to protect their worldly possessions. The stretched lower hand of the idol in Laxmi murti extends outwards in a gesture of blessing and protection.
2. Laxmi’s Attributes: She is one of the most revered deities in the Hindu religion. She is the personification of abundance, good fortune, and success. She is linked to everything auspicious in nature and universe. Goddess Laxmi is worshipped as the mother of the lord Ganesha and that is why worshipping them together brings fortune and wisdom in the devotee’s house. 

Since Goddess Laxmi is Ganesh’s mother, she should sit on his right side; in the Hindu religion the left side of the man is reserved for the wife. Not following this rule while establishing the Ganesh-Laxmi murti in your house can bring negative energies in the house.
