The British Royal Family Education Background

There has been a progression in the education of the British Royal family, from the education of constitutional history, aristocracy and role of the monarch to formal education. In the past, members of the royal family used to be educated at home with private tutors; therefore, most did not attend University. In this new era, members of the royal family have embraced modern education.
Some of the well-known royals who have managed to attain a degree include;

Prince Charles

Charles Philip Arthur George, born on 14th November 1948, is the Prince of Wales and the eldest hild of Queen Elizabeth II. 

Between the ages of five and eight, Prince Charles was privately tutored at home, after which the Buckingham Palace announced that the Prince had to attend school, which made him the first heir of the royals to go through school. Prince Charles first attended the Hill House School in 1956.

He then attended Gordonstoun and Cheam schools, then went to the Timbertop campus of Geelong Grammar School in Australia. The Prince holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, which he attained from the University of Cambridge. He studied history, anthropology, and archaeology at Trinity College in Cambridge. He also went to University College of Wales, where he studied Welsh History and language.
Being the Prince of Wales, he has the obligation of carrying out official duties in place of the Queen and the Commonwealth Realms.

Prince William

Born on 21st June 1982, William Arthur Philip Windsor is the Duke of Cambridge and the eldest child of Prince Charles of Wales.

He started his education at Jane Mynor’s nursery school and Wetherby preparatory school. He then proceeded to Ludgrove School in Berkshire. After passing the entrance exams, he attended Eton College, where he went on to study History, Biology, and Geography.

Prince William attended the University of St Andrews in Britain and graduated with a degree in Art History, but changed his main subject to Geography, later earning a Scottish Master of Arts degree with the second class honours upper division.

Born on 4th August 1981, Rachel Meghan Markle is the Duchess of Sussex and is married to Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex.
She grew up in the United States, where she studied in private schools, and as young as two years of age, she was enrolled in the Hollywood Little Red Schoolhouse. She grew up as a protestant but later in her teen years joined Immaculate Heart High School, a Catholic School

Meghan continued her education at Northwest University. Princess Beatrice joined the Independent St George’s School, studied for seven years before falling ill, forcing her to take a break from school. She then completed her studies there two years later. In her final year, she had the privilege of becoming the head girl.
In 2008, she enrolled at Goldsmiths College in London, undertaking a Bachelor of Arts in History and History of ideas, where she later graduated with a bachelor’s degree.

Catherine Elizabeth Middleton, born on 9th January 1982, is the Dutchess of Cambridge, and wife to Prince William.

Kate Middleton first went to an English language nursery school. She then went to St Andrew’s School and later Downe House School. Kate attended Marlborough College, where she studied as a boarder. Duchess Kate has a degree in History of Art from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
