Nexar was founded in 2015 by two founders, Bruno Fernandez-Ruiz, and Eran Shir. The company is headquartered in New York, and has up to 250 employees. It’s had a total of 24 investors so far, with a total funding amount just shy of $150 million.
Among its most popular products are the Nexar One and the Nexar Pro, with the latter being particularly popular among technology journalists and reviewers, often finding itself on the “best dash cams” lists. It is a dual-cam solution capable of recording both inside and outside the vehicle, and with a 1080p resolution, it’s capable of providing great video quality, while saving on storage space.
Garmin
A household name known around the world, Garmin was founded by entrepreneurs Gary Burrell, and Min Kao, back in 1989. Dash cams are just a small fraction of Garmin’s products, which service marine, aviation, and consumer technologies industries. It was incorporated in Lenexa, Kansas, United States, although these days, its headquarters are located in Switzerland, Europe. The company currently counts more than 5,000 employees.
Its most popular products include the 67W Dash Cam, the Tandem Dash Cam, and the Dash Cam Mini 2.
Rexing
A relatively small company (compared to its competition), Rexing counts no more than 10 employees, according to Crunchbase. However, with a strong focus on dash cams, and a myriad of positive reviews online, Rexing firmly stands shoulder to shoulder with the best of the best. It was founded in Milford, Connecticut, United States, in 2015.
One of its most popular products is the Rexing V1-4K, a solid all-rounder with high-res video, wide angle of recording, collision detection and a G-force sensor.
Vava
Another company established in 2015, VAVA quickly made a name for itself with great products, affordable prices, and a wide range of products. Besides dash cams, VAVA offers television sets, webcams, projectors, thermometers and smart home cameras. The company is headquartered in Fremont, California, United States, and is privately held with no backing.
Car and Driver
A somewhat curious addition to the article, but worthy of praise, nonetheless. Car and Driver is an independent auto magazine from Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States. Founded in 1955, it’s definitely the oldest company on this list, and currently employs up to 100 people. It offers a couple of dash cams, including Road Patrol, Eye1Pro, and Minio Pro.
