The best all-round luxury tender: the Wajer 38
It’s no secret that Wajer produces some of the finest luxury tenders on the market – so let us explain to you why the Wajer 38 is the best all-around day boat you can purchase today.
With nearly 30 years of experience and expertise under its belt, Dutch shipbuilder Wajer has managed to keep innovation at the front and centre of its designs, pairing this with an eye for quality and detail. Its most popular model to date, the Wajer 38, received a fully upgraded design in the summer of 2020 based on feedback from its longstanding clientele. This resulted in sleeker exterior lines, increased protection from the elements, more outside room, and enhanced comfort. An increasingly important aspect within day-boats and tenders, more and more owners are prioritising comfort, ease, and overall enjoyment. The convenience offered by the Wajer 38 is also helping drive its popularity among superyacht owners, who are using it as a day cruiser for day trips.

Fully customisable, the Wajer 38 features a spacious walk-in aft and a large three-person sun deck. The interior, which is contemporary and stylish, is elegantly tucked behind the streamlined windshield that comes in either a wooden or carbon fibre frame. The well-thought-out cockpit layout ensures that the helmsman has perfect a 360-degree view without being isolated or disconnected from the rest of the group. As more owners are focusing on stability and convenience when cruising, the customisation options on the Wajer 38 reflect this. For example, the U-shaped seating layout ensures guests onboard can relax in complete comfort while cruising, while the sun pads are ideal for sunbathing. Below deck, there is room for a double cabin with a restroom or additional seating with a restroom, depending on the owners’ wishes. At the same time, the Wajer 38 can also be colour configured to suit its owners’ exact taste. Owners are free to choose the colour of the hull, upholstery and waterline, so it can match their superyacht if they wish.
Powered by two Volvo Penta IPS 350 D4-DP engines, the Wajer 38 has a top speed of 46 knots, with a cruising speed of 30 knots. However, in response to growing interest in sustainable alternatives, the Wajer 38 also features the new foil assist system developed by Van Oossanen Naval Architects. Offering a completely different cruising experience, it cuts through the waves smoother, with less slamming and enhanced comfort, providing an overall better performance. The foil aid is placed amidships on the hull and lifts the boat, greatly improving cruising comfort and reducing fuel consumption while still reaching top speed. “We constantly develop new technologies to improve our fleet”, says Dries Wajer, managing director of Wajer Yachts. “Next to aesthetics like materials and practical enhancements, we wanted to take a serious step in upgrading the performance of the 38 models.”
One of the nominees for Best Tender in Boat International’s Boat International Design & Innovation Award 202, the Wajer 38 may be the smallest that Wajer makes, but this 38-foot cruiser offers everything you could ever want in a day boat and more.
