Getting Repairs and Resurfacing Done

The tennis court repair has to be done carefully. The performance of color coating systems is dependent on the construction of the court. The surface should be sloped properly. Adequate surface and drainage should be installed to prevent water accumulation beneath the surface.

The concrete courts should have a vapor barrier installed beneath the slab. While finishing the concrete courts, no curing compounds should be used, and there should be only medium broom texture.

The asphalt should be cured for 30-days and 28-days for concrete. Ensure that the existing surface is not coated with pavement sealer. Acrylics have trouble bonding with coal-tar or sealants.

Before any surface repair, 1-hour after the rain or flooding the court, identify any puddle areas which are even coin-size using chalk or sketch. Now repair the ares with acrylic patch binder or patching mix.

The court surface has to be cleaned before applying any repair products or coatings. If there are areas which are affected with mould, or fungus, they should be treated with a solution of water and household bleach in the ration of 2 to 1.

The instructions provided by the manufacturer should be followed. You should never dilute the coatings to stretch the coverage. The specified size and shape are crucial to the look and performance of the surface. If the right sand is not available in the area, it’s better to purchase the coatings directly from the manufacturer.

The manufacturer’s application and curing temperatures need to be kept in mind. So, apply the products when the temperature is 50-degrees and rising. The best time to apply is in the morning when the surface is not hot. If the application during the hot temperature has to be applied, the surface can be misted to cool the pavement. The acrylic coatings dry within an hour of application in full sunlight. Shade, low temperatures and high humidity can increase the drying times.

Finally,

When you are going for tennis court repair, use proper tools for mixing and application. So, use floor scraper, grass trimmers, blowers & brooms, pressure washer for a specific purpose.
