Some Facts About Christianity and Nondenominational Churches

Christianity is one of the significant religions widely followed in the world by more than two billion people. The center of belief is on the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Christians believe that Jesus Christ was born to a young virgin girl named Mary in Bethlehem, south of Jerusalem. Christians believe that this event was supernatural and had happened by the will and power of God, who sent Jesus Christ to Mary as a son by the Holy Spirit.

Christianity was started by a Jewish Teacher in Juraselum who was known and believed as the imminent Kingdom of God. He was crucified in the Roman province of Judea in c. AD 30–33.

Christian Beliefs

There are different kinds of Christian beliefs. Some of them are listed below:

  • Christians are monotheistic – They believe that there is only one God (The Father), Jesus Christ (The Son), and the Holy Spirit. They think that there is one God who created the heavens and the earth.
  •  The resurrection of Jesus – It is believed by the Christians that Jesus was sent by God to save this world. However, they believe he was later crucified on a cross in return for the forgiveness of sins.
  • The Holy Book – The Bible is the Holy Book in the religion of Christianity. It includes all the information about the religion since it began and the history of the Earth.
  • Symbol of Christianity – The cross is the symbol of Christianity which is also because they believe Jesus was later crucified on a cross.
  • Chrisitan Holidays – There are two most important holidays that are in Christianity and are celebrated in a year. One is Christmas which is celebrated as the Birth of Jesus, and the Ester, which commemorates the resurrection of Jesus.

The Holy Bible is a complete guide for Christians on spending their lives according to their religion. It includes the history of the Earth and how the religion of Christianity came into the world. The new and the old testament has gone under several changes.

The Bible is divided into two major sectors. The old testament is the first part of the Bible that explains the destroying or finishing of the Earth through Moses, Noah and the flood, and much more. The new testament states and explains the early days of Christianity and the life of Jesus Christ. The church is the Holy Place for Christians to worship.

Types of Christian denominations

There are seven major different Christian denominations. They are listed below:

  1. Anglican / Episcopal
  2. Assembly of God
  3. Baptist
  4. Lutheran
  5. Methodist
  6. Presbyterian
  7. Roman Catholic

Denominations are the different branches organized in the Christian religion, and they are practiced by people having different faiths in each denomination. However, there are several nondenominational churches that are now in town. Many people often get confused and raise questions such as “what is a nondenominational church?”

Nondenominational Church

A nondenominational church is not specifically associated with any specific denomination whereas, the other churches are associated with various denominations like Baptist, Catholic, Presbyterian, Lutheran, or Methodist churches. These churches usually tend to be protestant, conservative, and evangelical. In denominational churches, the directives are set on leadership structures, membership, and dogma. In nondenominational churches, the church makes all the decisions for various parts of life.

A nondenominational church believes that the bible must be the only source that dictates and teaches the rules and aspects of Christianity and how a Christian should follow his life according to his religion. These churches have pastors and older adults who help, guide and assist you during prayer and worship. Many nondenominational churches are conservative as several denominations are still the same as the ancient times. They haven’t adopted any modern ways or values such as the Southern Baptist Convention, the Presbyterian Church in America, the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, and the Assemblies of God. Many conservative Christians prefer going to a  nondenominational church.

Building new nondenominational churches could have several reasons. One of the primary reasons could be independence. Every Christian belonging to a different sector may wish to have space and separate Church for their worships. One of the main reasons for Christian people attending a nondenominational church must be “past.” It can be anything like a trauma or racism one must have faced while visiting a church that is denominational and follows only one sector of the Religion of Christianity. Another reason could be that the nondenominational churches follow the rules that are precisely mentioned in the Bible.

Pros and Cons of attending Non-denominational Churches:

There are several advantages and disadvantages of joining or attending a nondenominational church. Some of the advantages of nondenominational churches are listed below:

  1. The church can easily decide its practices and adapt to society.
  2. Once a practice becomes outdated or is needed to change, the church can adapt to the new practices and serve its congregants and community.
  3. A nondenominational church allows its congregants to share their ideas and thoughts without contacting or addressing any central leadership organization. This also shows and ensures that the congregants have their rights and influence in the growth and development of the church.
  4. A nondenominational church is considered to be super responsive and dynamic.
  5. Congregants can worship outside the framework when attending a nondenominational church.

On having several advantages, a nondenominational church can also have several disadvantages that the community or the congregants come across. Some of the cons are listed below:

  1. Nondenominational churches will unfortunately not have many resources or the ones they require. Large organizations have access to all the resources easily.
  2. It becomes difficult for a nondenominational church to grow as they have limited or no access to the following resources:
  • Mentorship
  • Support
  • Leadership
  • Influence
  • Teaching Experience
  1. Due to a lack of resources, it becomes difficult for the church to reach more potential members and become a stable community.
  2. In the case where two different preachers in a nondenominational church disagree with each other, and a dispute is caused, the church may split into various small factions as no higher authority or a leadership team is present to resolve the conflict.
  3. The dispute could be resolved by the Bible itself, but in a nondenominational church, the interpretations are different too which makes it extra difficult to resolve the dispute or conflict.

Why should you attend a-denominational church?

A nondenominational church welcomes people from all aspects of life. The love for God and Jesus brings people from different backgrounds, cultures, and upbringing closer. As there is no specific denomination in a nondenominational church, the other factors of the community coming into the church will not matter. The people in a nondenominational church worship God and follow the rules and instructions given in the Bible. No congregants come up with something different or something that should be followed based on a specific sector of Christianity. There are several nondenominational churches built across the United States by other Pastors who are eagerly waiting to welcome every Christian for worship.

All nondenominational churches are multicultural and multi-generational churches open to every Christian believer irrespective of their backgrounds, upbringing, and culture. Join a nondenominational church now and be a part of their congregation.
