Social organization RCB has started a month-long tree plantation program in Belka Union of Sundarganj, Gaibandha to combat the adverse effects of climate change.
Wednesday at 10:30 am, Sundarganj Upazila Agriculture Officer Rashidul Kabir inaugurated the program at the Panchananda RU Bi-Mukhi Dakhil Madrasa ground of the union, initiated by social organization RCB.
RCB’s main sponsor and Naya Diganta’s own correspondent and Rangpur Bureau Chief Sarkar Mazharul Mannan, UP Chairman Ibrahim Khalilullah, Madrasa’s acting superintendent Shahidur Rahman, Union Parishad (UP) member and assistant teacher Md. Abu Raihan spoke at the time.
In the presentation by RCB President Habibullah Sarkar, other speakers included Upazila Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer Khorshed Alam, RCB Advisor Journalist Sudipto Shamim, Humayun Kabir, Treasurer Atiqur Rahman, Publicity and Media Editor Shahin Alam, Library Editor Rakibul Islam, Member Yasin Ali, etc.
Gaibandha District BNP Vice President Professor Doctor Khandaker Ziaul Islam Zia provided overall support in the tree plantation program. Scouts members assisted in the tree plantation program.
Inaugurating the thousand tree plantation program, Agriculture Officer Rashidul Kabir said, “Such initiatives of the social organization RCB will play an important role in combating the adverse effects of climate change. However, the main issue is not just tree plantation, but also maintenance.” He urged everyone to join such initiatives.
RCB President Habibullah Sarkar said that initially, various types of fruit, forest and medicinal trees will be planted in 30 educational and religious institutions of Belka Union throughout the month.
