It is true that sliding doors combine convenience and aesthetics. However, depending on how often they are opened and closed, certain problems may appear sooner or later with telescopic ball bearing slides. Let’s discover the constraints in this article

Drawer desynchronization

This is a problem with telescopic slides for wide and deep drawers. It is called a dissociated opening of the drawer from the right to the left. This problem can occur with a flat mounted telescopic slide as well as with a side mounted slide. To avoid this inconvenience, it is best to consider the same length or even longer than the drawer.

This can also happen with a wide drawer slide. This is due to the high pressure on the ball bearing slide when opening and closing without taking into account the centerline. In other words, there is a tendency to pull on one side before pulling on the other when the cabinet is too wide. To alleviate this problem, it is better to install central handles instead of the usual two handles. This will ensure that the mechanism runs more smoothly, even in the case of a long telescopic slide.

Ball deceleration

Ball deceleration is a common problem with the telescopic ball bearing slide, but one that unfortunately manufacturers try to solve in vain. What is ball deceleration? In this case, the ball cages of the slide move at different speeds. As a result, the operation of the telescopic slide is completely disrupted. It should be remembered that we are not only talking about a vertical telescopic slide, but also about a flat telescopic slide. This problem is just as noticeable on an industrial telescopic slide.

To solve this problem, it is best to choose a slide taking into account the width of the drawer, even if the maximum load of the slide is much higher than that of the project. For example, if you choose a long telescopic slide, choose the 2 m telescopic slide which can support a hundred kilos even if the drawer will only have to support 50 kg in reality.

Ball migration

Whether it is a sliding door slide, an industrial slide, or a horizontal telescopic slide, ball migration is primarily a problem of inattention. Indeed, some drawers, whether it is a heavy load flat or light load vertical telescopic slide, tend to be opened only halfway. The balls then begin to drift from their original position as they are opened and closed. However, the ball cage is an integral part of the stop mechanism of the heavy load slide. As a result, the drawer only opens halfway.

This is a common occurrence if you are not careful enough, regardless of the material. The stainless steel telescopic slide and the aluminum slide are the most affected by this malfunction. To solve this problem, simply pull the drawer vigorously outward or push it vigorously inward and unblock the mechanism. The same applies to the heavy duty telescopic slide as to the light duty side slide.
