Dr. 90210 is an American reality TV show on E! that showcases hard working female plastic surgeons. The show originally made its debut in the year 2004, and after a long hiatus, the latest season was aired in 2020 with an all-female cast to break the stigma of plastic surgery being a male-dominated field.
The cast includes four female surgeons: Dr. Cat Begovic, Dr. Michelle Lee, Dr. Kelly Killeen, and Dr. Suzzane Quardt. Dr. Cat, one of the surgeons on the show, is a board-certified plastic surgeon who is well-versed with nearly all the plastic surgery areas, specializing in natural-looking tummy tuck and vaginal cosmetic surgery.
The show involves the surgeons dealing with several patients, their personal lives, listening to their requests, and transforming their lives by performing the requested surgeries.
Even though the surgeons are professional and have dealt with several patients in their lifetime, Dr. Cat received a unique and unusual request from Krystal.
Krystal, from Oklahoma, requested Dr. Cat to fix her smile. Krystal wanted Dr. Cat to add to her smile by adding dimples instead of making any significant changes. Krystal was interested in dimpleplasty.
Dimpleplasty, as the name suggests, is a procedure used to create dimples on the cheeks. Krystal mentioned that she adored Gabrielle Union’s smile, and if she could have a smile similar to Gabrielle’s, she would be ecstatic. She always dreamt of having a dimple on her wedding day, adding that she has the support of her fiance Dallas. Krystal wished to light up the room with an enhanced smile with a dimple.
After having a conversation with Krystal and listening to her goals, Dr. Cat asked if Krystal was fully confident in her decision. Dr. Cat emphasized to Krystal that her dimples would be permanent, unlike other non-invasive procedures such as fillers, which are dissolvable. Dr. Cat wants her patients to be ready mentally and physically before having surgery, especially out-of-town patients like Krystal who would travel across the country to Beverly Hills for surgery.
In a consultation, Dr. Cat broke down the steps of dimpleplasty for Krystal in detailed yet layman terms. She explained that the surgery tries to recreate the missing gap in the deep stretchers of the face. She further added that she does the surgery using a little punch biopsy by removing a little bit of a muscle and a tiny circle from the inner mouth skin. A stitch follows the procedure from the inside of the stitch to the dimple’s position.
Dr. Cat also confirmed with Krystal the depth of her dimple, advising her not to go too deep. Dr. Cat added again that Krystal wouldn’t be able to dissolve her dimples if she is unsatisfied with the results, meaning they will be permanent and a life-long commitment.
Dr. Cat further added for Krystal to consider, even if Krystal likes the dimples and finds them cute now, that does not necessarily mean five or ten years down the line she would still like them. After having an informative and thorough discussion with Dr. Cat, Krystal felt that she needed to rethink her decision of getting the dimpleplasty surgery.
Although Dr. Cat knows she has the skills and the talent to perform the surgery, Dr. Cat first considered her patient’s confidence to go through the surgery. She patiently explained what the surgery consists of, the post-op recovery, and the results to provide a quick and clear picture to avoid future regrets.
