The Benefits of a Global Pandemic
Even though the world has been on a tailspin of business closures and fundamental economic change, Rami Beracha believes unique opportunities can still be captured from the Covid 19 pandemic. While some brick-and-mortar businesses have been forced to transform or cease operations, Beracha suggests actively seeking digital transformation because he believes it will thrive long after the virus has been handled.
This belief in sudden opportunities is proven by Beracha’s development of two new business ventures during one of the worst economic situations the world has seen on such a global level. Even when it seems there is no bright light waiting at the end of the tunnel, his dedication to resiliency is a skill that all entrepreneurs should understand. Every situation, even those that are considered a crisis, presents risks worth taking. So, while Covid may have crippled many dreams, Beracha sees it as a way forward.
Beracha comes from the tech industry, having spent years promoting an Israeli-based firm. During the pandemic, he reached out to some business partners and created with two of them a new venture capital investment fund based in the West End of London called Eden Block. This fund backs the latest tech iteration that utilizes Blockchain technology and digital currency as part of its operations. Companies seeking to develop new markets or products based on this ever-changing tech will find a friend in Eden Block.
Developing this endeavor, Beracha concentrates on the Web 3.0 realm; Rami “admits” the young generation of entrepreneurs and customers alike have identified this before he did, but by forming Eden Block with two savvy partners he believes they will soon catch up and find the promising disruptions in high-tech pursuits like VR, robotics, AI, and similar projects.
How Beracha is Achieving Business Development During and After Covid Era
According to Beracha, the secret sauce to his recent success and company outreach is passion, self-confidence, and timing. He advises other entrepreneurs to pursue those goals and ventures they believe in instead of half-heartedly trying to push through an idea they only think may work in passing. This approach allows a more flexible organization that enables investors and developers to change direction or respond to market trends based on their emotions instead of just data. A welcome change from the info-heavy decision-makers in Silicon Valley.
Beracha formed this passionate look at life goals and how to make decisions from several unique experiences. After spending a bit of time in the military, he received a law degree. He used this credential to work in a Wall Street-based legal firm until he decided to switch careers entirely in another direction towards the business world. He quickly moved to France, where he completed an MBA.
Around this time, Beracha began working for Pitango, Israel’s largest venture capital fund. It did not take too long for upper management to recognize his hard work and talent by promoting him to a managing partner, where he led the company in over 200 up and coming Israeli tech startups, many of whom ended up making exits to leading brands like Marvel, Microsoft, Broadcom, and Apple.
In 2014, Beracha again followed his own advice and innovated by founding Sosa, a firm connecting New York and Tel Aviv by supporting high-tech firms with financial investors.
A Rise from the Ashes
Even with all of this notoriety, life for Beracha has not always been finance and tech goldmines. He was only 18 years old when he joined the IDF as a paratrooper during the Lebanon War. After this experience, he pursued an officer’s commission and, in 1983, joined a rescue team to help wounded soldiers navigate an active landmine field. This is the moment when the world forever changed for Beracha. He stepped on a live mine during his attempt to aid another soldier, instantly losing his right hand and left leg.
The resulting time spent in a military hospital with nothing to occupy his mind but his own thoughts sent Beracha into depression. His hopes of having a career in the military evaporated, and his very identity became challenged. Faced with the prospect of not knowing where to turn next, something inside clicked, and the strength to pursue a new life began to materialize.
This sudden dedication to never giving up grew into a lifelong passion propelled Beracha’s personal and business growth. After rehabilitation, he pursued sports from cycling to snowboarding and even hiking up Mt. Kilimanjaro. Being an amputee was not going to define the rest of his life.
Over time Beracha began to develop a love for kite surfing, traveling to Panama for the waves and relaxation. He even found a way to attach a prosthetic to the surfing equipment so he could stand and explore the water like a professional.
“At first, I was very angry after getting injured,” says Beracha of this period. “But over time, my anger calmed down and was replaced with acceptance. What encouraged me was the knowledge that no matter what I choose to do in life, because of my disability, it will be harder for me than others, but it will also be more challenging and more interesting. For anyone learning to kitesurf, the moment you manage to stand on the surfboard for the first time is an exciting moment. And when you have no leg and no hand, it’s an even more memorable moment.
Who knows what will be next for Beracha, but with such a willingness to succeed and personal fire for never giving up, there will be many more experiences and stories about this remarkable life.
