Solution 1: Turning off User Account Control (UAC) in your computer

For Windows 7, 8 and 10:

  • First, you go to the Control Panel.
  • If you are using Windows 7 then choose Start and then go to Control Panel.
  • In case you are using Windows 8 or 10, you can type Control Panel in the Start menu & then click on Control Panel.
  • Type UAC in the search box.
  • After that click on “Change user account settings”.
  • Move the slider to never notify in order to turn off UAC.
  • Now click OK. Enter the password or provide confirmation if the admin password or confirmation is required. In order to make changes perform restarting of your computer.
  • Move the slider to when you want to be notified in order to turn on UAC and click OK.

For Windows Vista

 

  1. Choose the Windows Logo.
  2. Then choose the Control Panel.
  3. Type UAC in the search box and press Enter.
  4. Click the Turn User Account Control(UAC) on or off
  5. Click to clear the Use User Account Control (UAC) checkbox to turn off the UAC.
  6. Then click OK.
  7. Reboot your computer.

Solution 2: Update QuickBooks Service

  • Click on Help menu.
  • Update QuickBooks > choose Update QuickBooks > Update Now > Reset Update > Get Updates
  • Reopen the ‘Update Complete’ message which appears on the screen.
  • Click Install Now if you have received the message to install the update
  • Restart the Computer.

Solution 3: Do a clean installation of QB under selective startup mode

  1. Press “windows icon key+ R” to open the run application.
  2. Type “msconfig” → OK.
  3. Click on Selective Startup under the general tab in the main menu bar and after that Select Load System Services.
  4. Go to services → hide all Microsoft services→ Disable all tab → uncheck hide all Microsoft services.
  5. To ensure windows installer is marked as checked verify the service list.
  6. If not then mark it check and click OK.
  7. Click on Restart Tab in the System Configuration.
  8. Do uninstall/install/reinstall function of QB once the system is booted.
