Premier League 2023: Top Four Predictions
Manchester City and Arsenal are the leading contenders for the Premier League title this season. The top positions are theirs, but behind them there is a lot going on.
Manchester United, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Chelsea are all battling to finish in the top-four to secure Champions League football. The Premier League is easily one of the richest leagues in sports today, but the Champions League can unlock substantial additional revenue in tv rights and sponsorships.
United’s chances look to be the most promising as they have been excellent this season under manager Erik ten Hag. The Dutch boss brought in some quality players in the summer and the improvement in their performances has been incredible. The Red Devils still need reinforcements in several positions but they are certainly a far better team than last season.
Meanwhile, Newcastle are challenging the current hegemony with the infinite wealth of their Saudi owners. The Magpies have lost only one game in the top-flight this season but have suffered an incredible 11 draws. They are a completely different team under manager Eddie Howe but we believe United will finish third in the table considering their better squad quality.
Tottenham have been very inconsistent this season but are still one of the favourites for a top-four finish. They defeated Manchester City earlier this month but then slumped to a shocking 4-1 loss at Leicester City in their most recent league encounter. Spurs have huge potential in their squad but lack of consistency has been their main problem.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have seen a huge decline this season as they suffered one disappointing result after another to slip down to ninth in the table. But an impressive run of form could still get them back in contention for Champions League qualification.
On the other hand, Chelsea have made huge investments in the January transfer window but performances have been highly disappointing for them so far. The Blues will also make a huge push to finish in the top-four by the end of the season.
But Newcastle are the most likely candidates to edge Tottenham, Liverpool and Chelsea for the final top-four spot, as per our predictions.
