Starting a new Path of Exile league can be overwhelming when it comes to acquiring currency and progressing your Atlas. This guide will show you strategies for crafting gear as well as farming for Poe currency in early-game maps.
We want to make sure that our first week or two are spent on getting higher tier maps so that we can have a chance to get 10 free uses of random maps. This is an awesome way to get more content into our maps. If you don’t feel like you would benefit from taking the shrine nodes, then don’t bother. You should be mid-tier yellow maps if you want to make a ton of currency. Get out all of the white maps you have in your stash tab and run them. You don’t even have to complete them; just put them in your Map Device, find the Essence, kill it then portal out of the map. If the boss is closed, kill it anyway as you might get a currency mission.
Get Map and Essence
You can complete maps in around one and a half minutes, so within an hour to an hour and a half, you’ll have a lovely amount of essences that you can sell. The important thing about making currency early is to sell your stuff; don’t let it rot in your stash tab. Almost all types of essences sell for money, so you don’t even need to upgrade them to Deaf and Intrigue to make money.
Red Maps
We’ve added an extra lead mechanic, more map modes, blockers, and Streamer Consciousness to get more content into our maps. We’ve also added Expedition because it is a great way to make currency early on. how to use Expedition, but essentially you use Rogues to craft gear for yourself or to sell Tuition to get some currency, and Danics to boost up either Rogues or Tuition. we’re taking the Expedition wheel here and here, but not the Expedition ones here. We’re taking Streamer Consciousness to force more content in, but just be aware that you can’t use Fragments, so don’t try putting Scarabs into your Map Device. We’re also blocking Metamorph, Delirium, Blight, and Ritual as they’re not things we want to complete.
Now we’re going to be well over sustaining our maps, so we don’t have an issue progressing our Atlas. We’ve got all of the Carat nodes in and we’re adding even more Map nodes, so sustain is not an issue.
White maps and Yellow maps
We’re now at level 66, so it’s going to be a struggle going into white maps. This strategy allows you to spend a couple of chaos getting your resistances sorted before killing Catawba, and a few more chaos if you haven’t got a 5-link drop to get something that you can run a 5-link skill with.
Once you’ve completed all of your white and yellow maps, you’ll only need to do three yellow maps and you can get all of the Essence nodes along with the Map nodes and this is when you’ll start making some currency.
Maps to run
When visiting Kirak, you will have the option to do Pier or Residence maps. It is recommended to run Pier maps as they are safer and drop a stack of Divination Cards.
To ensure that you have enough Chance Orbs, you can use a vendor recipe to turn Fusings into Chance Orbs. Once you have obtained two more Chance Orbs, you can buy the Haunted Mansion map. After obtaining two more Chance Orbs, you can buy the Volcanoes map. By cycling through maps using this strategy, you can complete all of your maps without having to duplicate one.
It is also important to upgrade your character’s gear as you progress through the game. To do this, you can use essences to craft new items or sell them for currency to purchase better gear from other players. Additionally, you can use the Chaos Orb vendor recipe to obtain Chaos Orbs, which can be used to reroll items or purchase gear from other players.
