From Afrikaans Actress to International Artist
Eventhough Pascal is famous for a soap opera, this is usually the stepping stones of many great actors to come out of South Africa. Pascal has been involved in plays since University days addressing difficult socio-political topics in South Africa such as gender based violence and rape culture. With new projects on the horizon, Pascal’s future looks bright as one of Hollywood’s rising stars who can handle any role that comes her way.
How she started
She made her debut in showbiz with a role in a television show in her home country, South Africa. The show was called Binnelanders, in which she portrayed the character of Karli du Preez, a student nurse. Her first appearance on the show was as a guest role, but her performance was so impressive that the producers made her a regular with a three-year contract, which turned into six years of playing a leading role.
A great example of hard work
In her early teens, Pascal Pienaar worked various jobs to support himself, including working at a local sandwich shop, being a caretaker, and even cleaning houses to help support himself. Prior to her breakout role in television, Pascal struggled to find an agent and took matters into her own hands by producing, directing and starring in a one woman show “T’ART”. It got the attention of a local talent agent and shortly after she was invited to audition for the primetime TV show.

Pascal is not just an actress; she is also a philanthropist. In fact, she has planted over 4000 trees at schools, universities, offices and townships in South Africa. Her goal is to not only educate but to inspire the youth with her #spekboomchallange that is encouraging the entire community to plant 10 trees per year. I want people to take care of their personal carbon footprint by planting more trees, said Pascal. This way we can counter climate change in a small way.
