My Trip to Kerala with Thrillophilia
We were looking for a short getaway to the South with the whole family, and a relative mentioned Thrillophilia to us. We have never really booked any tour package online before so we were a little hesitant about it, but the positive tones of the Thrillophilia reviews assuage our fears. There were plenty of options to choose from, but we went with this 4 days package to Kerala. The tour came with different packages depending on budget, and we chose the Premium package. Our tour started in Kochi; we were met by our travel guide right at the Airport gate and bundled into a spacious, 6 seater car. The first stop for the tour was Munnar, but we did make several stops on the way. We stopped at the Veyara and Cheyyaparra falls for some time. The cascade in December was not very strong, but the views were magnificent, so we took several pictures at the stop. We then traveled to one of the tea plantations just outside Munnar and were treated to a plantation tour. Our tour guide took us through the field and also showed us the process of distillation and tea making at the factory. There was a little shop there as well, so we took home some locally grown tea. From the plantation we traveled straight to our hotel in Munnar. We had three rooms booked at the Camellia and Elettaria Resort in Munnar. All of the rooms had been arranged in advance, so we didn’t need to wait for our rooms to be free. Somewhat exhausted by the whole journey, we decided to spend the rest of the day at the resort. There was plenty to do at the resort as well. We requested for a bonfire to be arranged in the evening, and the staff was more than helpful towards it.
The next morning, our tour around and near Munnar started early. We started the day with the tour of a nearby spice plantation, which turned out to be even better than the tea plantation tour, mostly because of the aroma that engulfed the fields there. We also visited the Mattupetty Lake, where we spent some time on a short boat tour and also took plenty of photographs. Other areas were covered as well, including the famous Echo Point and the Munnar Blossom Gardens. The last and final stop was the Rajamalai National Park. We didn’t book a tour but explored on our own accord, and spotted several birds and small game on the way. We were back at the resort by late evening, and had an early night. If you would like to book a tour then I would recommend you to look at Thrillophilia reviews before making a booking.
The next day marked the beginning of the second and final leg of our tour with the journey to Thekkady. We were staying at the Abad Green Resort, and the resort in itself was absolutely fantastic. The resort is quite literally surrounded by a few fires on all sides, exuding a cool, shady vibe. Having freshened up, we left for a full day sightseeing tour around the hill station. Our first stop was Periyar, home to the famed tiger reserve. We stopped first at the Lake for a boat ride, then headed towards the sanctuary. We were asked to choose between a jeep safari and an elephant safari, and since there were 6 of us in total, we went for the jeep safari instead. There was a guide who accompanied us throughout the tour and pointed out the interesting animals and birds on the way. We even spotted a tiger at some distance! This excited everyone. Our itinerary included a spice plantation tour in the evening, but since we had already taken one in Munnar, we decided to skip this one and go for some local tours instead. Our driver helped us decide which markets and local points we could explore, and even dropped us there. The local markets turned out to be very interesting, but it’s important to haggle well. We also tried some local food that night, and had the street delights from the street vendors around the market areas.
We were quite impressed by how well the tour went. It was not only extremely well planned, but also allowed us the flexibility to shape the tour to how we wanted it to be. The Thrillophilia team was fantastic with us as well, and was in constant touch to help us decide the tour itinerary, the accommodation and the rest of it. We especially loved the safari and the plantation tours, which were not only well guided but turned out to be quite pleasant in the cool weather. All of us are definitely looking forward to our next trip with Thrillophilia, perhaps somewhere in the North this time!
