It’s been reported that the film’s new cast has been delayed by COVID, an accident, and a rift between the production company and director Shankar, but production is expected to resume toward the end of August.
As per the source,  Actress Kajal Aggarwal was supposed to play one of the female leads, but she recently got married and gave birth to a baby boy in April, making her unavailable for the role. Indian 2 has been rumoured to resume production after Kamal Haasan and Shankar finish filming RC15 with Ram Charan, but the most recent reports indicate that they will not.

To much fanfare, Kamal Haasan returned to the big screen in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Vikram, which director Lokesh Kanagaraj has directed. Drama and action fans alike have praised the film’s action sequences. It’s been a few years now, but Shankar’s Indian sequel with the legendary actor has been making headlines. The film began filming, but was ultimately shelved due to budgetary concerns and a slew of other issues.

About 40% of the shoot is still left, as we previously reported. This is not the end of Indian 2, according to Kamal Haasan, who told Pinkvilla in an exclusive interview that the film will be completed. We had a lot going on in the background, aside from the fact that it’s a big movie. When we had COVID, a fatality occurred on the set. However, he signs, “It’s so unnerving, but we kept going.”

According to the actor, “Mr. Shankar owns a company called S Productions and I own a white elephant called Raaj Kamal Films.” We have to feed these white elephants, so we have to go out and do our jobs. One film is not enough for us. Those glorious days of Mughal-Ae-Azam can never be re-created. There is no way we can watch the same movie for a decade.

As for the new filming schedule, Kamal Haasan insists that everyone is working together to figure it out. “There will be an Indian 2.” Working together, we’re all talking to Lyca Production about it. Getting the logistics in order is the only thing left,” he says, adding that they are eager to shoot. Filmed by Shankar, Indian 2 is a follow-up to the superstar’s 1996 blockbuster film, Indian.

An Indian sequel directed by Shankar and starring Kamal Haasan is in the works. Kajal Aggarwal plays the lead role in the film, which was made by Lyca Productions. It’s been reported that the film has been put on hold after two schedules were shot.

A recent interview by actor Kamal Haasan reveals that the film is still in production. His political ideologies will be included in Indian 2 at the discretion of director Shankar, he added. For the past few years, the actor has stated that Indian 2 will be his final film.
“He said,” I replied “I’m currently working on a film. However, my thoughts are now focused on others. They must decide whether or not they want to portray a political ideology.”
When asked if he would strike a balance between politics and film, Kamal Haasan’s response was unequivocal. “Cinema is out of the question if people unite and ask me to serve them. I’ll have to apologise to tens of thousands of people.

Then again, I’ll have to deal with more than a million people at one time. I’m already a few minutes behind the pace. As a result, I have to act quickly and am unable to strike a balance between filmmaking and politics “the actor of Vishwaroopam 2 told the entertainment portal he was.

Prior to the film’s shooting, Kamal Haasan had a look test. According to director Shankar, he was taken aback by the actor’s portrayal of Senapathy in Indian.

According to 2.0’s director, “For Kamal Haasan’s role in Indian 2, we recently had a makeup test. I can only conclude that he is having a great run right now. I got goosebumps when I saw Kamal Haasan dressed as an old man. Excited to see one of my favourite characters back on the big screen after 25 years, I kept wondering how the audience would react. It was a wonderful sensation.”
