For quite some time, the housing market has been in recovery mode, which could be due to the ever-increasing growth of the technology industry. As a result of technological advancements, many people can now buy or rent a home without the assistance of traditional real estate agents. Additionally, the increasing popularity of home-sharing services such as Airbnb has made it easier for people to find rental properties. The real estate industry is expanding and has a lot to offer; the future of real estate is uncertain, but it is clear that the industry will only prosper.
It’s difficult to ignore the 2020 housing buzz when homes are selling in a flash, buyers are taking advantages of historically low mortgage rates, and real estate professionals are seizing opportunities missed during COVID-19’s spring selling season. The demand for competent real estate agents has always been high; reached record levels in recent years. While employment in other fields fell during the pandemic, real estate experienced a boom. As a result, more buyers discovered that buying a home was well within their financial means.
The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) has approximately 1.5 million members, according to a recent membership report. Other statistics indicate that the total number of licensed real estate agents might get doubled in upcoming years. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, real estate agent jobs are expected to grow by 4% over the next decade as even though many people were licensed in the last year, there are still many opportunities for new licensees.
Real estate agents who work in the most expensive markets are usually the most successful. Agents with extensive experience in luxury home markets typically earn the most money. Similarly, Mike Mostyn is the name of an individual who has become stellar in the real estate industry.
Born on December 16, 1948, in Concord, New Hampshire, Mike Mostyn is best known for being an intellectual American broker and Washington State real estate technology trainer. While growing up, he moved to different states starting from Olympic Peninsula to Gray Harbor, Port Angeles, and then finally to Portland Oregon, where he finished high school and graduated from Benson Polytechnic as a journeyman printer.
Mostyn’s family hosted Helge Singsaas in 1966, who piqued his interest in European culture which gravitated him to TASIS University, where he earned an AA of Arts Degree in European Studies. In 1968, he returned to the University of Oregon to attend the John Crawford School of Advertising, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism in 1975. Mostyn’s familiarity with printing attracted the attention of Paul Brainard, an American businessman, computer programmer, and philanthropist.
Ready for his professional life, Mostyn began his career at KZEL-FM in Eugene as a copywriter to pay his college tuition fees. Later he decided to open his own ad agency ‘Adwater & Styr’, but unfortunately, luck was not on his side and his business suffered a tragic failure. This event didn’t slow his desire to achieve a successful career. In 1981, he joined Gray Advertising (Los Angeles) as a junior copywriter, where he met Len and Myrna Simon, and helped them find Computer City in Costa Mesa, California while serving as an Apple Product Manager. After gathering all the wisdom, Mostyn became an associated member of the Apple Retail Council and Desktop Publishing Manager. Expanding his skills, he joined The Mac Store in 1999 where he handled the responsibility of a General Manager.
All these events marked the beginning of his successful career and in 1995, Mostyn, together with his wife Bobbie, founded InData Group in Issaquah, WA. Mostyn successfully designed and installed large institutional low-bandwidth video networks at Fort Lewis, Leschi Schools, Jackson Hole High School, and the Washington State Correctional Facility at Stafford Creek by integrating TCP/IP, HTML, and Internet URL protocol to control traditional video content.
After accomplishing success in his early career, Mostyn decided to test his luck again, and this is when he opened his real estate firm, The South Sounder, in 2010. He became a Washington State real estate technology trainer and Certified Residential Specialist while working as a Washington State Broker, member of the National Association of Realtors, and leader at Windermere Peninsula Properties in Belfair, WA.
All his efforts finally paid off when he received his Washington Real Estate Instructor License #i4253 and Washington Real Estate Broker License #106564. Mostyn has splendidly shown the world that failure, undoubtedly, possesses the power to take a person one step closer to success.
