LANDOVER, Md. – Pensacola native Jeremy Reaves, a safety for the Washington Commanders, added a special moment to his team’s thrilling overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night. After the game, Reaves got down on one knee and proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Mikaela Worley, in front of a cheering crowd at FedExField.

The heartwarming proposal came after the Commanders clinched a playoff berth with a 30-24 win over the Falcons. Reaves, who had a strong game with five tackles, was overcome with emotion as he popped the question. Worley, visibly surprised, said yes, and the couple shared a passionate kiss as confetti rained down on them.

Reaves, a former standout at Pensacola High School, has been a fan favorite since joining the Commanders in 2018. Known for his hard-hitting style of play and infectious personality, he expressed his joy after the proposal.

“This is the best day of my life,” Reaves said. “I’ve been dreaming of this moment for a long time. Mikaela Worley is the love of my life, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her.”

Worley, a former University of South Carolina cheerleader, said she was “shocked and overwhelmed” by the proposal.

“I can’t believe this is happening,” she said. “Jeremy is the most amazing man I know. I’m so lucky to have him in my life.”

The proposal was a fitting end to a memorable night for the Commanders, who overcame a 16-point deficit to win the game and clinch a playoff berth for the first time since 2020.
