On April 19, the Providence Performing Arts Center was transformed into a celebration of culture, creativity, and community pride during the Remi TV Influencer Awards, a powerful event that brought Rhode Island’s rising voices to the forefront.
Dubbed by attendees as “the BET Awards of Rhode Island,” the night celebrated local influencers, entrepreneurs, artists, and changemakers—many of whom were being recognized on this scale for the very first time.
From the moment guests stepped onto the red carpet, the energy inside PPAC was electric. Community leaders, city officials, and families filled the theater, cheering for nominees and snapping photos as award winners were announced across 16 diverse categories.
What truly made the night unforgettable were the live performances by R&B legends 702 and Carl Thomas, who had the crowd dancing and singing along like it was the early 2000s all over again.
But this wasn’t just about music and recognition. Organized by Dr. Remi Jones, CEO of Remi TV, the event served a deeper mission: all proceeds are being used to support workforce development programs and homelessness prevention across the state.
Every nominee received official state and city citations, along with personalized letters of encouragement—a meaningful gesture that reminded everyone their work truly matters.
“This was more than an award show,” said one attendee. “It felt like the entire community came together to celebrate us—for once.”
From the awards to the activism, the Remi TV Influencer Awards was more than a moment—it was a cultural shift.
