MEDI Leadership Hires William Barnes, Ph.D, MBA as Executive Coach

St. Louis, MO — MEDI Leadership (MEDI) has announced the addition of William Barnes, Ph.D., MBA as executive coach to healthcare leaders and teams. In this role, Dr. Barnes will equip healthcare organizations to better meet emerging patient care demands and thrive in a fast-evolving environment.

A clinical psychologist for more than two decades, Dr. Barnes has served in executive leadership roles at Children’s National Health Systems, and the National Association of County and City Health Officials. During that time, his impact and reputation earned him large-scale, global consulting roles for the World Health Organization, UNAIDS and UNICEF. His coaching experience spans various industries including healthcare, banking and the military.

In this role, Dr. Barnes will equip healthcare organizations to better meet emerging patient care demands and thrive in a fast-evolving environment. Prior to joining Children’s National Health System, Dr. Barnes was the Chair of the Child Study Society International (CSSI) Board of Directors. Barnes has extensive experience in managing growth and organizational change in all industries and areas, and he has made significant investments in both Child Study Societies International (CSSI) and international professional development. Through his work with CSSI, Dr. Barnes helped launch Child Study Month throughout the global child studying population. He also led successful health programming in local health departments in the Philippines and Colombia. His partnership with the Emily Carr Foundation has seen him pioneer critical projects in promoting mental health awareness. Aside from his practicing career, Barnes has been an avid outdoorsman for much of his life. He has been involved in countless outdoor sports, and the 2018 Holland Rowing Foundation selection to tutor rowers at The Netherlands Rowing Academy’s Leadership Center was one of the proudest achievements of his career. Dr. Barnes has a B.A. from The University of North Carolina and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from The University of Pittsburgh. A native of Germantown, MD, he is originally from Charleston, SC.
